Chris finally managed to make it back down to Engineering with a nice cup of dark coffee. Probably one rather odd thing about him. Despite being somewhat of a scatterbrained fellow at times, his tastes in things were very simple. “Nothing beats warm coffee ..” He smiled warmly as he slid a few PaDD’s off his desk to the left where they clattered to the floor before setting his coffee down next to his terminal. “Now then ..” He tapped a few times on his screens to bring up the most recent reports and information to the planet. There seemed to be a different in FTL ideologies from the earlier briefing. One form focused on the typical matter/anti-matter reactions that their current warp reactor used, however, it seemed relatively unstable as there was no catalyst for containing or controlling the reaction such as their Dilithium matrix. However, the other form sounded pretty interesting and theoretically possible according to the report. Utilizing high yield fusion batteries for a short FTL Jump would easily contain enough power to jump them to the edge of their solar system and back.

“Computer could you align the main deflector array to the planet if it’s not currently in use and scan for non-encrypted broadcasts on anything related to Space flight or Faster than light testing?”

=/\= Aligning…=/\= The computer said.

Lieutenant Trainor hadn’t actually held a conversation with the Chief Engineer since the man’s arrival on the Ark Angel, and this mission was definitely going to have the two working closely together.

“Emmitt, mind if I join in on your research?” The Operations Chief asked as he approached the Chief Engineer. Tenzing had just breached into his 20’s, but could easily pass for a 18 or 19 year old. Fortunately, his file was sealed so anyone without the proper clearance would only know that his first assignment was on the USS Chimera, as the ship’s Operations Manager. There were always crazy rumors to how Tenzing became a full Lieutenant at such a young age, but he let them fly over his head. Little did they know he practically saved the human race.

Chris hadn’t paid attention to anyone that had been following him, he was just excited to be back down in Engineering to get to working again. Needless to say the unexpected voice kind of startled him as he sort of bounced in his chair, then looking up. “Oh! Lieutenant!” He let out a sigh of relief, “You scared me..” He let out another deep exhale. “Of course you could! I was just seeing if the main deflector array was in use to use it to pull some broadcasts from the planet about their FTL testing. Wanted to just hear the general voice of the planet so to speak before actually jumping into their networks to look for schematics and what not.”

“I’m not aware of anyone using the deflector array as of yet.” Lieutenant Trainor replied as he checked his PaDD. “Though I think someone from stellar cartography has requested usage tomorrow morning.” The Chief Engineer’s plan did sound intriguing, and was rather passive compared to sending out a probe.

Chris tilted his head for a second before continuing. “I don’t think we’ve actually gotten to talk since the briefing on the Merrimack .. and I’m still rather new to the ship.”

Tenzing nodded. “That mission was very touch and go…” The Lieutenant stated. “Nearly almost got my head chewed off by the Captain for mentioning the Borg.” Lt. Trainor added, slightly laughing at the situation. “I joined the ship not too long before you did actually; took over from my br…” Tenzing stopped what he was saying to quickly change the subject off of him. “So, now that the deflector is free… where were you thinking to begin?”

Just as Trainor came in the computer replied =/\= Error distance to target exceeds time dilation factors. Information gathered may be outside requested data requested..=/\= It said, perhaps looking at the logs on file would be a better bet from the probes already there by the cultural folks at HQ.

Myrok entered engineering casually he looked at both the Lt’s and merely with hands clasped behind his back stated” Hello gentlemen I do have cartography in the morning as well as now....I would like to be informed.”

Chris looked up and off to the side past Tenzing over his shoulder seeing the voice that had just presented itself. “Oh, Ensign Myrok? Did Science currently have use of the deflector array? Think we could use it for a few hours? Have a project for the Captain gathering information in regards to the FTL Test Flight this species will be conducting. Trying to see if we can manage to get into the networks to see if we can get some schematics.”

OOC: No worries, just waiting on Myrok to reply so that I can try and bounce to the logs since we’re still out of range to use the array T_T
Disregard, I’ll just make a post doing both :D

While he waitied for the Ensign’s reply while looking at him, his fingers tapped away proficiently at his LCARS terminal to bring up the requested logs from the database relay from the probes in orbit. His search range was for the last 3-6 months prior to their arrival into the system with the same keywords as mentioned to the computer previously.
