Finding the lab was easy since she had been able to use the computer terminal in her quarters to pull up a directory. Now she had to download several gigaquads of data. the doors slid open revealing a large space walls lined with various displays, a large diagnostic chamber in one wall stood empty waiting for a test article, every kind of instrument imaginable and some that were not, took up counter space and floor space, everything Nerira would need for the next phase of her project she figured she could find in this lab.
Stepping through the doors, Alice had been admitted to wonderland.

• Ms. Akanar
  Demil spun towards the door to the lab as the doors slid open. He had been tucked in a corner for the past several hours, working on several pet projects and research studies, and hadn’t been expecting anyone to be using the lab, at least not until 0800. The ensign watched with mild interest as the Betazoid woman stepped into the room. “Can I help you,” he began, eyes flicking to her collar. Finding no rank, he decided to err on the side of formality, and finished “Ma’am?”
  Ens. Lis, Science

A voice snapped her out of her wonderment. “uh…” she began, obviously disoriented by the sudden presence she had failed to notice before, but quickly regaining her composure she continued, “…actually, now that you mention it, yeah I could use a hand. I haven’t used a LCARS interface in ages. As a civilian I did work on my own custom system I had designed to maximize my workflow efficiency, but its nothing like LCARS. so I am understandably out of practice and I need to get this data,” she held up the PADD, “downloaded into the main core. I also need an isolated copy downloaded in this location.”
Handing the PADD to Lis she smiled warmly, “you’ll help me out, right? I got to get to engineering to check in down there I don’t have a commanding officer but Hobbes is my boss. she wanted to see me by 8:00.”

  “Computer, identify the other person in this room,” Demil requested.

“Oh sorry, the name’s Akanar, Nerira Akanar.”she said in sync with the computer

Once it confirmed that she was, in fact, supposed to be there, he accepted the PADD and his fingers began flying over the interface.

“As a civilian and a betazoid, its honestly been a while since I have had to introduce myself to anyone,” Nerira explained, blushing.
“Anyways…” she trailed off, transfixed by the speed with which Demil worked.

“You mentioned that Lt. Hobbes is your superior, ma’am? What’s your specialty in engineering? You also mentioned that you were recently a civilian?” He asked while the data began to download.
Ens Lis, Science

“No, I am currently a civilian. I used to be an officer and actually had earned the rank of lieutenant, but I didn’t have the ability to work the way I wanted within Starfleet’s parameters. I’m an exotic propulsion specialist so I needed exotic materials, ships, and lots of space to conduct my research. But now Starfleet wanted a engine specialist on this ship and I wanted to go see the sights and examine alien propulsion systems along the way, so it was a win win situation.”
Sensing some confusion about her uniform, Nerira explained: “As a former officer who was honorably discharged I feel that it’s not disrespectful to wear the uniform, however I feel that showing my previous rank would be both dishonest and disrespectful.”

  Demil nodded at her explanation. As he took in a breath to continue the conversation, the computer beeped in notification it was done with the download. “Oh, looks like that’s finished,” he said, and handed Nerira her PADD back.

“Thanks” she said taking the PADD.

“I assume, as an engineer, you are familiar with the layout of the Ark Angel? You have roughly fifteen minutes before you are expected in engineering.”

“I didn’t get the opportunity to review the specs, but I think I can find my way down there.”
sensing some curiosity from the ensign she continued “if you want to look over my work feel free. All I ask is that if you do, you find and let me know what you think.”
turning to leave for engineering she thanked him one more time.

Finding her way to engineering, Nerira searched for lieutenant Hobbes amongst the crowd of people completing various tasks. pausing just at the base of the warp core, she looked up taking in the buzz of main engineering, now this is home…

OOC: Just be aware, Hobbes is no longer the CE. I will be officially promoted in the main sim after the current sim is over. But for things like this, I will take over.

Kaden looked up and saw Ms Akanar looking for Lt Hobbes. Kaden was aware of what had happened to the Lt and was now in charge of Engineering. He then said to the crewman, “Hi Ms Akanar, I am Lt Buchanan and I have recently taken over as Chief of Engineering for Lt Hobbes. Welcome aboard. How are you doing since you have arrived to the ship?” Kaden then waited for a response.
