Side sim - Boarding post - Security OfficeTravis didn’t sleep very well the night before he left Star Fleet. It must have been the excitement of heading out for his new assignment. But he got himself together, did a light workout stretching and then going over strikes blocks and takedowns first and some isometric exercises after, before having a light breakfast. Once breakfast was done, he cleaned his quarters and got them ready for turnover to the Star Fleet Quartermasters agent who would release him and accept the room, ready to assign it to some new cadet.
As he departed the room he had just cleared, he bumped into a few Co workers that were also shipping out in this rotation.
“Morgan, what ship did you get?”asked Johnson as he paused momentarily to talk to Travis.
“I got a ship called the USS Ark Angel in Foremost Fleet. How about you?” He asked.
“I’m staying here for another rotation. I kinda like Interdiction and catching Pirates trying to get one over on us.” Said Johnson
“Not to mention the Orions and their criminal enterprises. You can’t forget them.” Replied Morgan
“True.”agreed Johnson “Yes, they are a group that we have to watch very closely. I can’t believe the amount of latitude we actually give them here on Earth. Makes you wonder really.” Said Johnson
“But that’s a discussion for another day. I’m glad I got the opportunity to see you before my departure. It was a pleasure working with you. Now that you know where I’m headed, don’t be a stranger and stay in touch.” And he stuck his hand out. Johnson took his hand and shook it vigorously.
“You’ll be missed brother.” And he pulled him in for a chest bump and a hug before diverting his eyes and walking off in the other direction. There was a bit of emotion on Morgan’s behalf too. You didn’t serve a whole year doing the type of stuff they did and not feel something for your mates in the trenches with you. But that was yesterday. This was today, here and now. And for Morgan, it was new beginnings and new friends and coworkers.
He continued on his way. Finally making it to his first beam out point. He handed the padd to the agent. The agent did a quick check of his data on the padd and transferred his tags and pertinent information to the system and discarded the padd with the others in a docking system setup especially for padds.
“Your personal belongings were just transported to the supply ship that you’re going out on. Your ship is on a mission. You can speak to your OIC - officer in charge on the supply ship and he or she will get you up to date on where you rendezvous with the Ark Angel. This is standard procedure and nothing to worry about. Because of Opsec you can’t get your final orders down here. Up there however is a different story. Any questions?” Asked the agent who Travis now realised was SFI - Star Fleet Intelligence.
“Good, then have a good trip, and remember your training. You’ve got all the skills you need to be an asset. Make your mentors and teachers proud.” As he rendered a quick salute and a smile, just before energising the transporter.
When Travis materialised, he was on the transporter pad of a space ship. He could feel the thrumming of the engines under his feet. Something he hoped he would get used to.
“Welcome aboard. I’m Lt. Jones. I’ll show you to your room where you will be comfortable for this short four day trip. If that changes I’ll let you know, but I’m the OIC on duty today. Anything you need, let us know. Any questions?” She asked
“I was told I’d get more info on my ship when I got here.” Said Travis
“Sure thing.” And she reached inside the pouched that was draped over her shoulder and produced a Padd. “You’ll find everything you need on here.” And she handed it to him.”come, I’ll show you your room.” And they departed.
“Ladies first.” Said Travis, And she lead the way.
The next few days were pretty uneventful. Which gave Travis time to read up on Lt. Kyle Anders, his new boss, who was apparently from England on Earth. A family steeped in history hand in hand with Star Fleet. They even had a ships Captain or two in Star Fleet at one time. This was good to know. It would tell Travis things about his Chiefs personality. Things that they probably had in common.
It also gave him time to study the ship schematic and make it easier for him to navigate the ship. He figured he would check in with his boss and let him know he was aboard, and then get the mandatory medical visit out of the way, before he met the Captain. At least that was the plan. But he was flexible.
On the fourth day, Lt Jones made contact with him to inform him that they were four hours out from the Ark Angel and they were expecting us. Travis received this news with a smile. He thanked her for everything and began collecting his gear. He checked with Lt Jones to make sure his personal equipment was ready to be transferred and moved to a waiting area thirty minutes before beam out time.
When they called him, he was already standing in the doorway to the transporter room.
“Im right here and ready to go.” Reported Ensign Travis Morgan
“Great. You may take your place on the pad.” Replied the transporter operator.
“Thanks for the ride guys.” And he stood erect and waiting to be engulfed by the blue light.
Moments later:
“Welcome aboard the Ark Angel Ensign. This cadet will assist you whilst you get yourself checked in. Again, welcome,” replied the transporter Chief.
“Thanks Chief. Much appreciated.” Replied Morgan as he took his first look at his new home. Part of his job was to keep this ship safe. And he would do everything in his power to see it through.
Ensign Travis Morgan
Security Officer
USS Ark AngelOOC: Dude! Your posts never fail to keep me enthralled!
Lieutenant Kyle Anders decided he wanted to meet his newest Junior Officer in person before he reached his office. As a man who, like his father and grandfather before him, firmly believed that a Security Team aboard a Federation starship should be as close to a family as it can get, so if he could set up a good rapport with his officers from the get-go, he knew that they would become a much more cohesive unit.
Arriving at Transporter Room 2, Anders smiled as the doors parted to reveal Ensign Morgan stood in front of him, “Ahh, Ensign Morgan isn’t it? Welcome aboard lad, if you want to follow me, I’ll take you to the Security Office and we’ll get you settled.
-Lieutenant Kyle Anders: Chief of Security-
“That sounds like a plan Chief. It’s a pleasure to meet you. Lead the way and I’ll follow.” Replied Travis
OOC: Here’s where we’ll do your boarding post!
