Katie smiled. “On the contrary, the first warp flight from Earth required a huge assortment of technologies to be developed ranging from metallurgy that were used in the construction of that first warp engine that the Wright brothers couldn’t conceive to the computers that controlled that first warp flight. Remember that the Wright brothers had nothing more advanced than simple mechanical calculators and America’s first moon flight was calculated by hand with only minimal computers.”

Kaden responded, “I was just speaking from a basic example. It took over 150 years just to get from one point to another. But there is a ton more involved than just basic flight to warp. “

“Getting more specific, ten years ago surveys of J17 didn’t detect intelligent life much less any signs of a civilization. Six months ago another survey team found not only a civilization of nation states but one that was entering an industrial era. Shortly after that surveys found no evidence of radio or high energy transmissions of the sort that Earth went through in the mid 21st century. A week ago, the Volgograd found the society was on the verge of space age development.”

“That is a very short timeline for the level of progression which the civilization has gone through. It seems almost impossible to move forward this quickly. Are we sure they may not be from another planet which might have already had it and they are just re-developing it?” Kaden asked. He was thinking there is no way this was natural progression. It was a very very very short timeline to go from almost nothing to something very advanced to have warp. Sometimes has to be influencing them.

Anang shook his head. “That is extremely rapid by any standard and almost qualifies as prima facie evidence of external interference.”

Katie nodded. “Indeed it does. Still there remains the possibility that it developed by the inhabitants themselves. Ark Angel is heading there to assess the situation and make first contact if necessary.”

Anang frowned. “What other possibilities are there?”

“Suppose the locals possess exceptional psychic abilities. Is it possible they learned the technology by psychically ease dropping on space faring species? Suppose their metabolisms and mental processes operate much faster than ours. So fast that we might seem to be frozen in time compared to them,” Katie said. “There’s not much we could do about either of those or a host of theoretical possibilities. Our immediate task is to prove whether they developed their own technology or got it from somewhere else.”

Kaden then responded, ‘I agree with you on this one. We have got to decide how we are going to need to have a list of questions developed in order to determine if they developed this themselves or not.”
