It was about an hour or two after Drudoc arrived earlier. By this point the first major ‘swing’ of the all day gathering party had begun for those coming off of the night shift and morning shifts. With everyone mingling and enjoying their post mission company as well as getting their new blood integrated. Drudoc with the aide of some NEs had setup her usual podium at the front of 18-Forward which was overlooked by 17-Forward above.

Striding up to the hovering microphone base Drudoc tapped it to get everyone’s attention in the room. “..Excuse me everyone? If I could have everyone’s attention please?” Drudoc said waiting till both rooms upper and lower quieted and she had everyone’s focus.

Once she did she continued, “..Today as is our tradition here on the Ark Angel we gather once more to celebrate another successful mission together. As well as recognize those among the crew who stood out in the success of that mission. We also use this time to welcome those newly assigned to the Ark Angel and welcome them into our ship and family..” She said.

Sifeda turned to face the Commodore as she spoke. She was regretting the deal she made with Lieutenant Belmont now that she learned that these gatherings happened after every mission. At least she hadn’t agreed to let her dress her at every gathering, just the next one. She let out a huge sigh of relief at that thought.

Kyle stood opposite the Commander for a moment, unsure of what to do with himself, “Do I really need to judge children, I feel like I’m no older than half of them!”

One of the NE’s nearby leaned over to whisper, “..Actually its the children who are judging those who dressed up. Remember you’re to give a cultural lesson on what you’re wearing for their education..” the NE said.

Ensign luna having just gotten off shift entered 18 forward. She was wherein her usual star fleet uniform. She looked around wondering where Cerenity was thought she did not see the child. Luna was sure she was here somewhere and for the moment, chose not to worry.

After a pause for quiet again Drudoc resumed speaking. “..First I’d like to get what could be more of the awkward issues out of the way first. That being our new arrivals to our angelic family. Could I please have, Lieutenant Commander Sifeda Itri, and…” Drudoc then called off a few other NEs, “..to come up on the stage?” she requested.

Once the new XO and 12 NEs were gathered, Drudoc one by one introduced the NEs and where they would be working as well as brief highlights of their last ship assignments or in the case of three NEs their recent academy graduation. Turning then to Itri she said, “..Commander would you like to say anything to those in attendance currently either of your last assignment, or your thoughts and feelings on joining our large family?” she said.

Sifeda nodded at the Commodore and stepped forward. There was a brief pause as she placed her arms behind her back and looked at all the faces pointed in her direction as well as the eyes that were laid on her. “I like that the Commodore Drudoc referred to everyone as family. I heard a quote, long ago, that I think is appropriatefor this occasion. It went something like this....Family is like the branches on a tree. We all grow in different directions but our roots remain attached and as one. I grew up on a planet that was comprised of two species who were each’s sworn enemy. However we were able to integrate, thrive, and learn together. A lot of people..beings, even now in this time would not ever believe that two mortal enemies could connect and build a community but it is possible and we did it. Because we considered ourselves, despite our differences, to be a family. I do not only want to be known as the executive officer of this ship but I want each of you to look at me as a member of your family. Someone who is going to be there to help you solve problems or listen and not judge when you are not at your best. Also just a friend for casual non work conversations. I know you all expect the best from me and I expect the best from you as well, but if for any reason you cannot deliver your best work, then I expect for you to reachout and let me know what’s going on with you. I am honored to be apart of this family and I look forward to exciting adventures and serving with each of you.” After she finished her speech, she nodded at The Commodore and stepped to the side.
