Demil sat quietly on the edge of his bed, his quarters once again nearly sterile. Up until the past day, they had been slightly personalized, with musical compositions and Trill symbols pinned on the wall. However, following the incident in the arboretum, all of those had come down. Maybe, if he had stuck to the protocols, it wouldn’t have happened. In any case, he was back to perfectly in line. He was off-duty, but still in uniform, and his blue eyes glistened with barely-contained tears.
