As Luna’s phaser and photon torpedo bursts went out the streaks of phaser fire lanced along the aft quarter shields of the targeted RSE Horn’s Claw. The warbird’s aft shields went from 100% to 61% as the phaser and 3 of the 5 torpedoes hit home. Targeted systems dropped from 100% efficiency to 83% efficiency before being knocked offline.

Meanwhile aft firing disruptor fire from the Horn’s Claw and another burst of disruptor fire from the RSE Cold Clutch returned fire on the Ark Angel. The Horn’s Claw’s fire went wide by the evasive maneuvers of Marsh, but the Cold Clutch had zeroed in on the Ark Angel’s aft port quarter along its nacelle and was focusing its fire there, probably trying to target their own drive system’s to disable the ship. Shields upon the impacts went overall from 78% to 73%. Minor scarring was reported on the port nacelle but otherwise no damage came in. Then on sensors the Horn’s Claw and Cold Clutch each accelerated to full impulse and faded from sensors as their cloaks engaged.

”..Hold fire, all weapons!” Drudoc ordered to Luna, “..Helm, adjust course 60 degrees to port, approach the stellar commentary debris at 231 mark 386. Bring us within 70 meters of its surface full impulse!” Drudoc ordered. Refocusing on Luna as the Ark Angel banked hard to port and dove towards the large block of comet ice shards of ice particles and gas were impacting the shields and enveloped the larger ship in places. “..Tactical, focus sensors in all vectors, look for ghosting patterns matching the size of the warbirds. Once you got a pattern, fire all appropriate phasers 10 degrees forward and aft of that location..” She said.

” I’m on it” Luna did she started scanning for Ghosting patterns. If and when she found them she would find she would fire only the Phasers. ” I sent there a way to detect them when clocked” She asked.

NE Born at the aft console line spoke to Luna’s query, “..There are, but we aren’t equipped with the newer emissions tracking systems of many such combat designs. Even though these warbirds are older types, they still are hard to target lock..” He said.

Moving into the wake of the comet, K’sang began adjusting the parameters of what they were searching for by focusing on the Hydrogen gas.

“Faraday’s law.. Hydrogen is a Diamagnetic substance, but with enough ice we could use the ships emitters to generate an electrolysis effect. Given the cold of space Hydrogen Bonding would occur quickly creating a wide high tension intermolecular field that might make it easier to locate the two vessels if they follow us. In theory, the ships would emit smoke trails in their wake on an atomic level the moment they disturbed our gas bubble.” he paused looking up, “Captain, are you opposed to shooting the comet?”

”..I was thinking just the same! Ensign K’Sang..” Drudoc said, so far no patterns were yet showing up that Luna could target. Focusing her attention to Luna again Drudoc ordered. “..Ensign Luna fire a full burst of tricobalt devices into the cometary body. Ensign Marsh upon their launch angle the ship to 316 Mark 98 maintain evasive pattern Ceti 6a..” She said.

”..Aye ma’am..” Marsh said.

Once Luna would launch the tricobalt devices out the aft launcher the impacts were almost immediate, the devices detonated and tore apart the larger commentary mass into thousands of smaller fragments, as well as making cometary mass and gas shotgun out in all directions. But with the Ark Angel’s course change and faster speed they avoided getting caught in the ensuing cloud. However, as it soon revealed their pursuing warbirds were not so lucky, they were easily outlined in the cometary mass the Horn’s Claw was slightly above them to aft and port about 300 meters away, while the Cold Cutch was below them to aft and starboard about 500 meters away. Both well within weapon’s range.

Once Luna would fire phasers as earlier directed, the lancing shots would quickly pin down both cloaked and unshielded warbirds. The closer and more aggressive Horn’s Claw fell from cloak had major damage to their port wing nacelle assembly and were leaking drive plasma. The ship was flickering showing critical damage to their engine systems. While their shields sluggishly came back up registering only at 15% weapons were also knocked off line, but for the moment the more aggressive Horn’s Claw was disabled. For the Cold Clutch the phaser strikes there were less damaging, the further back warbird also fell from cloak and had their main power supply disabled, but back up power soon took over. Their shields sluggishly also came back up but were at 29%, the plasma bolt system seemed offline, but the forward disruptors showed likely to be working at only 30% capacity.

Seeing this Drudoc spat out some more orders. “..Ensign Marsh, bring us about and hold station 900 meters off both warbirds. Ensign Luna, target both ships with phasers but hold fire. Ensign K’sang open a channel to both ships, let’s see if they are willing to talk..” she said.
