As Katie was struck, and Demil was still knocked off to the side, the large 10ft blob squeezed through the open door from the Flea’tan core room and out into main engineering. Immediately there was chaos further thrown into the mix as NE’s already busy at work with the combat outside, noticed the large intruder to the ship. Thankfully somewhat the blob did not seem interested in eating up poor NE’s or going after the warp core, instead it began to shuffle at a moderate job rate down the corridor and out into the main ship corridor, taking up much of the whole area as it did so. Where it was going was a mystery but it would probably be a good idea for one or both of the engineers to tail it and try to contain it. The NE’s seemed to have the battle power shunting and the like well in hand.

Katie twisted around, more painfully than she would have liked, and watched, still stunned as the blob moved out of engineering. For reasons she could never fully identify, the word “shoggoth” came to mind.

“Prime task is still the same: keep the engines and the shields on line,” Katie said to herself. She returned to the control panel and completed the required entries to erect a forcefield barriers. She shifted the control functions to her PADD.

“Keep those engines online,” she yelled to the NEs as she moved as quickly as she could toward the entry. The pain in her right knee where the blob had struck her was almost unbearable but she did managed to get to the main corridor. The thing was still in sight. She nodded as she pressed the PADD control to erect a forcefield behind her.

“With any luck that will keep it away from engineering.”

With the forcefield behind her to main engineering being blocked. The large blob continued moving down the corridor of deck 41. The blob continue this way and seemed to stop near a turbolift shaft. Extending a pair of tendrils it forced open the lift doors and squeezed itself inside. By the time Kate and Demil would catch up they found the blob had slithered out the top of the lift through the ceiling hatch, and into the shaft proper. As they peered up they could see it passing through another lift doors up on deck 38. Again it would probably be a good idea to pursue the blob to ascertain its intentions and where it was going.

“Where, in Heaven’s name, is it going?” Katie said out loud as she stood in the damaged turbolift looking up through the open ceiling hatch. “There aren’t any major power sources up there. What is up there?”

She glanced at Demil.

Katie tapped her communicator.

^Hobbes to the Bridge. We have a huge blob creature going up the turbolift shaft that may be heading for your location. I recommend that you seal off the turbolift shaft with a forcefield.^
