[snip]Just as Demil got into the room and requested his query to the computer, the answer by the computer seemed redundant, besides the Flea’tan Jump Core in the center of two level room, and the myriad of support tubing, and such with it, plus the computer consoles around it, in the middle of the room was a much larger blob then so far encountered, was semi-square in shape, rose a good 10 feet high and a extending tentacle of goo came from it to attach directly into the Flea’tan core, a glance at the nearby power flow readings near Demil showed the big blob was indeed feeding on this alternate core for the Ark Angel. Given it was not used unless interacting with the rare Flea’tan Jump Relay network this was not a big deal, since it did not provide much if any power for day to day ship operations or in combat unless adjusted to do so which it wasn’t currently. Given the power monitor showed the drop in power generation was almost at 42% of normal the blob probably had come here about an hour or so ago and grown to this size since and since the Flea’tan core did not provide any power to the ship its loss of power was overlooked by internal sensors and monitors.
As this was all taken in the Ark Angel shuddered again from weapon strikes, and their was the dull muted thump and whine of return fire of torpedoes and phasers in kind to their foe they were fighting.
But again this second of notice of other things was taken out of his hands when this big blob seemed to sense his presence, and a gooey appendage emerged out of the big blob, with lighting like strike it slapped Demil aside to the left near the side of the door he had just come through, he was a bit bruised but otherwise fine, though likely would feel sore after this was all over. A gurgle from within the blob was also a result of this action.
Katie nearly lost her balance when the ship shuddered from the weapons impacting the shields. It did snap her out of staring at the gigantic blob “attacking” the Flea’tan core. She quickly locked her helmet onto her radiation suit. The ship was under attack so her priorities were to keep the power going to the shields and weaponry and as long as the blobby whatever it was seemed intent on something that wasn’t immediately related to that task, it was of secondary concern.
She bit her lower lip. Would a force field stop a blob this size? Would the power required to hold something like that thing draw too much from the shields protecting the ship?
“I have to try,” she said aloud as she moved to the appropriate control panel. As she was setting up the forcefield, a tentacle zipped out and struck her.

As Katie was struck, and Demil was still knocked off to the side, the large 10ft blob squeezed through the open door from the Flea’tan core room and out into main engineering. Immediately there was chaos further thrown into the mix as NE’s already busy at work with the combat outside, noticed the large intruder to the ship. Thankfully somewhat the blob did not seem interested in eating up poor NE’s or going after the warp core, instead it began to shuffle at a moderate job rate down the corridor and out into the main ship corridor, taking up much of the whole area as it did so. Where it was going was a mystery but it would probably be a good idea for one or both of the engineers to tail it and try to contain it. The NE’s seemed to have the battle power shunting and the like well in hand.

Katie twisted around, more painfully than she would have liked, and watched, still stunned as the blob moved out of engineering. For reasons she could never fully identify, the word “shoggoth” came to mind.
“Prime task is still the same: keep the engines and the shields on line,” Katie said to herself. She returned to the control panel and completed the required entries to erect a forcefield barriers. She shifted the control functions to her PADD.
“Keep those engines on-line,” she yelled to the NEs as she moved as quickly as she could toward the entry. The pain in her right knee where the blob had struck her was almost unbearable but she did managed to get to the main corridor. The thing was still in sight. She nodded as she pressed the PADD control to erect a forcefield behind her.
“With any luck that will keep it away from engineering.”
