As the lift doors opened again and the pair stepped out, they found a few NEs busy at work doing some basic day to day system checks. Already informed about the blob’s threat and how to detect them more accurately the various NEs were busy doing such preemptive scans. NLt Borsch seeing the pair exit the lift came over, “..Ah we got word you two might be coming down here. Well so far no signs of any blob things in our systems, only one showing up on internal scans is that one down in the biology lab. Still given their difficulty and ability to be hard to detect we’re also doing eyeball inspections too, there is a lot of ground to cover, and if you got the time to help feel free to chip in..” he said.
A few minutes in to their search, suddenly a ship wide Red Alert sounded across the ship, and Drudoc’s voice came over the comms, =/\= All hands red alert, battle stations! Any crew currently studying our ‘blob’ are to remain on station and continue this effort, unless ordered otherwise..=/\= She said
Drudoc Andone CO
Katie took a deep breath. Battle stations? That was unexpected and more than a bit unsettling. She hadn’t been on Ark Angel long enough to even know where her battle station was. She glanced around and noted that the rest of the engineering team were busy suiting up in radiation suits. That seemed like a fine idea and so she joined them.
Moments later she started toward the main Engineering console when she had another thought. The Flea’tan core was a key component and if the blobs were attracted to energy forms that might be like a magnet to them. She would check out that system and assure its continued functionality during whatever was coming.
=/\= Ensign Katherine (Katie) Hobbes, Engineer
Katie’s checks on the Flea’tan core so far turned up nothing, but the scans were still running.
Kriv pulled his tricorder out as he removed a panel in front of a plasma conduit. He looked over as Katie entered the area. “Be careful, Ensign. You don’t want to get burned.” He held up his hand that had the scars from the accident with the plasma conduit exploding back on the Washington.
Taking a quick scan before the call for battle stations, he jumped to his feet, jogging over to where the matter anti-matter pods were, and began to carefully check them out for signs of blobbing.
Zemta Kriv, Engineer.
For Kriv, his scans over the warp core and matt/antimatter pods by the ship’s internal scans showed no blobbing was present.
Just as Kriv’s work completed Katie’s own work completed, but there was a possible indication something blob related was afoot. In this case in the rear of main engineering in the side room where the Flea’tan core was maintained. Further it was just at that moment the ship shuddered lightly from a weapon’s impact, evidently whoever or whatever had called them to red alert was also attacking now.
