“I agree,” Katie said nodding. “We need two of them to create a wall so four should seal off a corridor. If there are two of these things, we may have to seal off two corridors separately.”

They removed all eight of the units and their stands from the crates and placed all but one on the anti-grav cart. Katie took one of them and, together with Miz’uki examined the device.

“It looks like it has self contained power system and can be both remotely operated… probably from a PADD or the ship’s computer,” Katie said. “Now we need to figure out where to set them up.”

The Vulcan engineer chimed in as they moved the cart out of the cargo bay, “..You should be aware that each pair of emitters needs to be within 10ft of each other and have a line of sight to properly function. Control is handled by the control pad on the side of each emitter, there is no remote functions..” he said.

Corridor 2B on Deck 6 appeared to be the perfect location to try the forcefield trap. One of the entities… Katie couldn’t think of anything better to call them… were headed in this direction and there was a long straight shot with a single doorway. Together with the Vulcan engineer they set up four emitters on opposite sides of the corridor and turned on last three pairs of emitters.

“Ten seconds before the entity gets here. Everyone have their tricorders ready? Good. Transporter team is ready and standing by,” Katie said just before she entered the door just behind the set of un-powered emitters. She closed the doorway and counted to five. A heartbeat later, she heard the sound of something colliding with a forcefield and she jumped to the emitter and turned it on.

The “entity” looked something like a black floating spikey star crawling along the wall, shooting a spike/tentacle against the forcefield as though exploring, looking for a weak spot in so that it could continue its journey unimpeded. After a few exploratory pokes, it managed to push its way through to the next section. And moved almost instantly to the next forcefield. Again it probed and explored.

=^= Transporter team. Hobbes here. Do you have a lock on the entity?=^= Katie said tapping her communicator.

=^= Working. Just keep it near there for another minute.=^=

=^=I don’t think we have another minute,=^= Katie said.

This time the entity turned back to the second forcefield and was quickly back through it. Katie noticed the glistening of the transporter signal near the top of entity. Then, it appeared to melt into a red liquid that rapidly began to fill the corridor between the first two forcefields. Just as Katie took a step back, the blood red fluid began to pour around the edges becoming a torrent that quickly went over her ankles and knocked her off her feet. A few seconds later, every trace of the liquid was gone and Katie got back to her feet.

=^= Transporter team. Did you get it?=^=

=^=No and we don’t think you’re going to like what we did get.=^=

=^=Save some of whatever it is for science. Maybe they can learn something from it.=^=

=^=If they can learn something from a couple buckets of blood then more power to them. =^=

OOC: Ok so I need to jump in here, neither of the blobs are currently moving in your direction as I posted. The first one is in crew quarters, the other is somewhere in the ship’s ventilation systems. I would perhaps suggest you nix the above two bits of the post and consider how you might track the second or trap the other (maybe going to that location etc). I don’t normally try to railroad or stifle creativity, but at least for the purpose of the blobs and what your efforts do i do need to have control of that in this instance. Any questions please let me know, I wanna work this out together :)
