<SNIP>Just then the bar tender came round with a large pitcher of wine. Hoping that the larger pitcher will keep them busier for longer. “Can I get the two of you anything else?” the NE asked. It was just then that Kalitta’s stomach groweld. “Yes, bring me a plate of Gagh” she then looked to the Commander “What will you have Cochrane?”
Lt. Commander - Kalitta - CMO
Cochrane waved the offer away with his hand. “I think I’ll be drinking dinner tonight. Besides, had a big lunch. Gotta watch my girlish figure.” he said with a grin.
When Cochrane returned, Sadie was quiet until she had a moment’s pause. “I’d like some bloodwine if possible,” she said to the CMO with a slight grin. “I’ve always wondered though, why is it called Bloodwine? What is it made from?”
Kalitta got a great big smile on her face her sharpened teeth showing grotesquely. She then poured Sadie a glass of the wine. “This is some of the best blood wine you will ever have. it is from the chotwI’pu’ mountains. It is a fine blend of Wild targ blood and the blood of our most infamous warriors. They all donate a few pints of blood every year. It is watered down and blended with some wild roots to give its alcoholic content. Then it’s aged for five to ten years.” Kalitta took a gulp of her blood wine. “What we have here is aged eight years.”
Sadie stared into the glass, gulping. “Ah,” she blinked. “As interesting as that is, I’m not entirely certain this won’t be pure poison for me. You probably won’t understand, as a culture that has a lot of meat consumption in it, but my species is naturally herbivorous,” she said, putting the bloodwine down sheepishly. “I think the high blood content could very well give me extreme food poisoning…” she trailed off. She’d wanted to impress the klingon, but now she would disappoint instead.
Sadie
CSOCochrane smiled over the rim of his glass and said “Careful, Lieutenant. Don’t assume she won’t understand. She is the Chief Medical Officer, after all.” The XO knew that that the CSO didn’t mean anything by he comment, but he also knew Klingons. Tell them ‘probably won’t understand’, and they immediately assume you are calling them stupid.
Kalitta staired blankly at Saidy. She’s not serious is she? She thought. “Lieutnint the commander is correct I am the CMO and if it really came down to it I would never give you something that wold poisen you. You might feel a little sick in the morning but noting that I couldn’t fix in sick bay for you. That being said, you are correct it is not good for you.” Kalitta took a nice gulp of her wine and it dripped a little from the corner of her mouth. Kalitta absent mindedly wiped her mouth with her sleeve.
Trax followed the xo or so later a minute back to the party as he entered quietly as he moved far away from the CMO and the XO as possible. As he moved to a corner to sit in at a table to think of what repercussions he would face again with the COM. As a waiter came by. “I want something strong!” Trax commented flatly as he gave the waiter an order. “I don’t care what it is. besides bloodwine.”

Cochrane looked back and said “Give the Ensign a glass from my reserve, if you would please.” and then he turned and looked fully at him. “Scotch. From back home.” he said with a wink.
While talking with the Cochraine and Sadie, Kalitta kept a close eye on Trax and made note of what he was drinking and doing.

All trax could do was a nod. As he acknowledged the xo and his order. “Waiter bring me that and the strongest drink you have.” Trax commented quickly. “Its a shame I can’t have a Romulan ale since its illegal in the federation.” He said flatly. That would definitely give the Klingon a real tizzy. Trax thought to himself but let it drop. Traz sighed hard as he watched the waiter to get him the scotch.

After the NE Bar tender served the Scotch to Ensign Trax he then went to the back with a bowl and opened up another smaller barrel. This one was filled with the Gagh. They very much so looked like earths night crawlers he used to fish with as a kid. He himself was a little appalled that he would have to stick his hand in the mass of worms to serve to the Klingon. He stuck his hand into the mass. “Eeew, it’s so squishy and wriggly.” he said to himself. He grabbed a hand full and put it in a bowl. “With everyone here why is it always me who has to deal with the worms.” The NE grumbled.
A few minuets later the NE brought the bowl full of Gagh to Kalitta. “Here you go Doctor, a fresh bowl of Gagh for you and your friends.”
Kalitta clapped and rubbed her hands together. “Finally a good meal.” She then offered some to Sadie and Cochraine before digging in herself. Digging in with her hand and slurping up the worms as if they were nothing but noodles in a bowl of soup.
Cochrane looked at Sadie, the Gagh, and then past Sadie to the bar. Catching the eye of the lead waiter, he made a few gestures and soon a plat filled with leafy greens, small root vegetables, and a glass of green-tinted wine. “That might be a bit more appealing, Lieutenant.” he said with a smile and a wink. He then grabbed a handful of the wriggling worms with his bare hand and stuffed them into his mouth. His time with the Klingons had hardened his stomach to most of their cuisine; he even found that he enjoyed a good deal of it.
Cochrane, XO
Sadie stared at the gagh for a few moments before quietly gulping. Cochrane’s order of greenery was a relief for the small alien. “I apologize that I will have to pass on the Gagh, doctor,” she said, still a little ashamed of her assumptions about the woman earlier. She was just embarrassing herself over and over now. “Thank you for the offer, but although you may be right about the bloodwine not killing me, I don’t think I can handle… meat.” She would have a similar reaction to cooked meat, it wasn’t the fact that it was alive.
Kalittas’s toothy grin only got bigger when the commander took a handful of Gagh. “Commander you are one of the few humans I have met that does not mind fresh Gagh. Most humans, or should I say humanoids squirm and shy away from such a meal.” Kalita took another hand full of the worms. “What people don’t realize just how much nutrients Gagh actually have when eaten. One can actually survive on Gagh alone and live a long and healthy life.”
“So Cochrane you mentioned that you spent time on a Klingon vessel. Was that part of the exchange program.” She asked with her mouth full.
Lt.Cmdr - Kalitta - CMO
Cochrane swallowed the worms and wiped his hand on his napkin, then reached for his drink. “Klingon War College, actually. I was invited to attend when I was an Ensign. Spent a year or two learning how the Empire does things.” he said noncommittaly. “And I participated in some joint operations over the years. Anti-Piracy task force, counter-terrorism operations, suppression of unauthorized mining activities and the like.” and he took a drink. Looking at the CMO, he said “And you, Doctor? How did you get involved in the exchange program?”
Cochrane, XO
“Truth be told I was ordered to go into the exchange program after I had completed my Xenobiology on chronos. I had already been a practicing physician when I took the course. But the counsel told me that I was required to serve the empire like Warf did on the enterprise. They told me that my experience in both medical and Xenobiology would help both the federation and the empire. I reluctantly went into starfleet and learned your ways in the medical field. But because I was already a doctor on Chronos I was able to challenge a lot of the exams. So I exited the academy just two years after I entered.
Kalitta took another hand full of Gagh and put it in her mouth. “I do miss the empire, but now most of my career is with starfleet. And my record speaks for it’s self. I didn’t become a Lt. Commander easily. I have had to prove myself every step of the way. Nobody likes a Klingon doctor. They think I will ignore their needs.” She then took a gulp her her wine. She was now getting very drunk. Kalitta rarely talked about her past and rarely to strangers she just met.
“Before Starfleet academy I admit I didn’t have much of a bed side manor. But now I have learned that most humanoids want to be coddled a little when they are sick or injured. on Chronos if you broke your arm I would set it, cast it, then send you on your way with none to little pain killers.” Kalitta paused a moment almost in thought. “But that is the klingon way. Pain works for us and helps us learn and grow.”
“As I worked my way up from Ensign to Lt.Cmdr I wold always find someone on my team to teach what I know. Help them grow and be a better inter-species doctor. My xenobiology helps with that.” She then looked across the room to where Ensign Trax was sitting. Will he be a good candidate to learn what I know? She asked her self.
Sadie quietly munched on her greens, listening to the conversation but not getting actively involved. She was a part of an exchange program as well - her planet had such a small population they could only contribute one or two officers to starfleet once every five or six years, so her species’ presence on a Starfleet ship was not common.
Sadie
Wanting to change the subject a little Kalitta turned to Sadie and did a quick visual exam of her. “I must admit Lieutenant Sadie, I am not well versed with your species. I knew that your species existed of course but I have not met one of your kin before. I would be most interested to learn more about you and your species.”
There wasn’t much Gagh left in the bowl so she offered the rest to Cochrane.
Lt. Cmdr - Kalita - CMO
Cochrane nodded and grabbed the last handful, stuffed it in his mouth as was expected of those eating the dish, and wiped his mouth with the back of his hand. A single ‘thump’ of his glass on the table indicated his thanks. He looked at Sadie and waited to hear what she said in reply. He was also mostly unfamiliar with her species, but knew she was a solid Science officer. As he looked, he placed his hands in his lap and wiped the remnants from his hand.
Cochrane, XO
“Of course,” Sadie said with a small smile. “You can find my medical notes and the notes I gave your predecessor if you want more detailed medical information. I’m an Arwan from the planet Galdor, one of five intelligent races native to my planet. There’s a lot of diversity on Galdor. It’s kinda like we have three or four Australia’s on our planet,” she said, as if that explained everything.
Due to her own lack of knowledge regarding the animal life of Qo’noS, she wasn’t able to relate the races of her planet to the animals the Klingon would be most instinctively familiar with. “The raka are very similar to the Caitians, but about half the size. The Laleri are much like the Caitians, but more similar to a canid than a felinoid. The Hatriku I can say are closest to the Gorn, or perhaps the Voth. The Pipini are aquatic air-breathers, like a dolphin. And my own species, the Arwan, welll, you can see me and judge for yourself what alien or animal you think I look like. Humans are apes, after all,” she giggled.

OOC: Thread split. Correcting.
“I See, and which of your races would you call the warrior race?” Kalitta asked genuinely interested.
She then got thinking. “With five intelegent races on your home planet there must be some kind of religion of religions. Do you follow any yourself?”
