USS Ark Angel

OOC - Main Sim Update - All Read!!

Good morning all my lovely Angelic Peeps! Hope your New Year into 2022 is going well for you all in some form. Now just a reminder for everyone since Monday January 3rd awol limits have resumed as per normal. This means we’re back to our usual posting expectations of once every 3 days for the CO/XO/GM, once every 5 days for all Department heads, and once every 7 days for all junior officers at the least. Obviously if you can productively and want to post more than that feel free! Though just be understanding that not everyone will reply at the same rates. With that said this means that starting from today I will be sending out awol notices for anyone who goes over these limits by more than 2-3 days.

Now with that little reminder out of the way, I want to again welcome all our new influx of players! I am so happy to see the Ark Angel have a full active roster of department heads and 2 jos in each department! This means for us older players currently active in the main sim we need to pause a moment so I can best decide where to put all you new folks! I figured it was also a good excuse to give a big main sim recap and reminder for everyone on what has happened so far and where everyone new and old should be currently and doing. So let’s get started!

The main sim’s mission began with the Ark Angel as usual at Starbase 243 (our home base for Foremost fleet fyi!), the base commander has tasked the Ark Angel to follow up on a curious distress call from the SS Synthesis, a 2160s era Unity class heavy cruiser made shortly after the founding of the Federation after the Earth-Romulan War (Info on this custom design made by me in fact can be found here! https://www.star-fleet.com/library/bookshelf/tm/unity.html just for reference at any time any questions let me know!). The Synthesis had originally in 2162 been assigned by the newly formed Federation and Starfleet to explore a then distant massive stellar nebula region known as The Barrens. Exploration probes at the time seemed to indicate this massive several light years spanning nebula was home to a myriad of mineral rich resources and habitable planets ripe for colonization and other efforts. But not long after their arrival the Synthesis was lost, follow up investigations gave no clues what had happened. To compound matters over the years since that time up to the modern late 24th century numerous ships, colony efforts, and the like have all gone missing mysterious with no known causes! This included Klingon, Romulan, Dominion forces and more all from the late 2160s till the late 24th century. With this in mind Starbase 243 was then surprised when they picked up a genuine distress call from the Synthesis herself from its captain detailing some kind of loss of the ship’s systems and computer core.

The Ark Angel and her crew set out and along the way there tried to do some research into what was causing all these problems or to try to detect any sign of temporal anomalies that could explain the sudden reappearance of the Synthesis and her crew. Sadly not much was gleaned from these efforts other then even in the late 24th century the major regions of The Barrens remained unexplored and a ‘no go’ zone for anyone concerned. Entering The Barrens, the Ark Angel found no issues at first, and soon came upon an early formed solar system of three planets still in the early stages of development. More confounding was the discovery of the SS Synthesis herself! The ship was intact, with no signs of distress or damage. The crew seemed healthy and without problems and after a brief problem in making contact with them was made even more mysterious by the fact that the Captain reported no problems to his ship or crew and having never sent a distress call. In fact the Synthesis had only just arrived by their view into the system barely more then a day or two ago.

Captain Andone the Ark Angel’s CO mindful of Starfleet’s Temporal Prime Directive glossed over the fact of where and when they seemed to be from to the Synthesis’s captain who agreed for now to let the matter lie. Eager though for both ships and crews to get to the bottom of what was going on a shuttle from the Ark Angel was sent over with a mixed department away team to scan and look for clues on what was going on that drew them here. Meanwhile those who remained behind were broken up in other assignments on the Ark Angel to equally dig into the mystery before them to solve what was going on.

Phew! Ok so that about sums up in short where things are currently in the main sim, so now I’ll break down where everyone should be and what your current objectives are.

Away Team On Synthesis is made up of the following people: XO (Masi Dirida), Chief Engineer (Miz’Uki), Chief Of Security (Kyle Anders), Chief Science Officer (V’alura Belmont), Security JO (Ashley Logan), Security JO (Jordy Kleine), Engineering JO (Drawde Enik), Medical JO (Trax Elbrun Suder) - The latest thread in this line of posts is found here! https://www.star-fleet.com/core/stf1/arkangel/posts/162260/ or whatever is the latest in that thread line.

Currently the away team’s department assignments will be broken down as follows.
-XO: Talk shop with the ship’s command staff, try to confirm their story with known mission records and logs so far uncovered.
-Engineering: Examine the basic system operations of the Synthesis for any anomalies. One thing already noted was a strange computer glitch that had held up their ability to reply to the Ark Angel’s original comm calls. Looking at the ship’s computer systems as well as other primary systems would probably be a good spot to start.
-Medical: Look over the ship’s logs for any crew anomalies. Given the historical records of the crew were spotty due to loss of data over the long years getting up to the minute data to fill in the gaps is key.
-Security: Look over the Synthesis’s armory, defense, and offensive systems for any anomalies. One thing already noted related to the strange computer glitch was that the ship’s shield systems had shown unknown minute variations of stability before the Ark Angel arrived. Starting there might be a good idea

Those Remaining On The Ark Angel is made up of the following people: CNS (Mykl Najjar), Science JO (Ella Lokaa), Science JO (Demil Lis) - The latest thread in this line of posts is found here! https://www.star-fleet.com/core/stf1/arkangel/posts/162263/ or whatever is the latest in that thread line

Currently these science JOs and the ship’s CNS are tasked with the following:

-Everyone There: You are to examine The Barrens in this region for any anomalies, you are also to look for any stand out clues related to the Ark Angel and Synthesis. The CNS is to look for any medical psychological problems among either ship’s crews, or effects that The Barrens is having on either ship’s crews. There could be more to discover here so use your resources and puzzle out ideas on follow up information.

And that is pretty much it! I would please ask that everyone not already doing so please get into the main sim events as soon as you can. While I am also loving the many side sims going on don’t forget that participating in the main sim is equally important. I would also ask that folks at least glance through all threads whether they are main or side sims just in case your character is called or something and so at least out of character you keep up to date with various information that may come up later. If anyone has any questions, comments, or concerns on what to do or the like please do not hesitate to ask me!

Note: Small edit to fix the error I made in assigning Jordy as a science jo instead of security jo, and put him from being on the ship team to the Synthesis away team… Thank you Jordy for pointing out this mistake!
