Drudoc’s voice came over ship wide. =/\= Attention all hands brace for a possible rough ride, we’re about to attempt to harness protomatter energy to return to our home. Secure all stations and standby. =/\= Andone said.

Immediately the staff in sickbay began fastening safety straps that would hold patients to their bio-beds.

A few minutes later the ship shuddered and power sky rocketed off the charts, it was beyond the measurements of known science. It seems their timing had both been on point, but also bad, they had not only captured one dying protoform but THREE. Immediately the ‘thought drive’ kicked into gear and there was the impossible reading of actual movement beyond again any measurement. Systems began to blow out and consoles blew in sparks. The whole ship shuttered under the colossal energy it was somehow holding together within itself.

Then just as it seemed things would literally explode around them the shuddering and sparks ended and all the lighting on the ship died out except for emergency lighting and life support.

Zarus had been thrown to the deck with the shuddering. They were a little dazed and didn’t recall the lights going out. The normally bright sickbay was now dimly lit by emergency lighting. The shadows of people moving gave it an eerie feeling to the environment. The glow in the dark tags identifying equipment storage compartments were visible in their characteristic dull greenish glow and static text. Something Zarus had only ever seen in simulation

They brought themself to their feet and looked around before joining the army of nurses and medical techs that were checking the biobeds and patients…
