[snip]It was a little while later as they were nearing their finishing touches that Miz’uki realized they were at a tipping point. There was now no going back on their alterations they would be as ready as they could be and really weren’t going to get much chance to test things out one way or another once they began. It would either work or it would blow them all to kingdom come.

She sighed and speaking out loud to trigger the comm system =^=”Engineering to Bridge we are about as ready as we are going to be down here this will either work or it will blow up in our faces spectacularly!”=^= she said reporting that they were ready to start their long trip back

=/\= Understood Lieutenant, standby we’re currently wrapping up an experiment I believe in the holodeck on Ensign Caelian’s ‘thought drive’..=/\= She said.

Moments later, the turbolift doors hissed open and Caelian nearly tumbled from the lift. He looked around wildly, bobbing this way and that, until he spotted Miz’uki. Though a little apprehensive given her mood earlier, he nonetheless jogged over to where she was standing. Offering her a polite smile, he nearly collapsed against the console next to her.
“Chief,” he gasped, “we need. To get. Everyone on duty. Down here.”
Before she could formulate a response, Caelian held up a finger and hunched over to brace his hands on his knees. Gods be good, why was the Ark Angel so massive? When he could work out more than two words at a time, he did his best to explain the situation. His fingers moved over the console, uploading his projections and data to the nearby workstation where the chief engineer could review it. Once he was done, Caelian made a vague gesture in the direction of the warp core.
“Unless you think it’s not necessary, it might be wise to isolate the main drive systems from the EPS grids.” Screwing up his face, he added, “life support and other critical systems, too. You know her better than I do, Chief.”
He spun around almost comically until he spied the tool locker, then tilted off in that direction. He called to Miz’uki over his shoulder. “I’m going to see if I can’t find a way to boost structural integrity and maybe even squeeze a little more out of our inertial dampeners. I have no idea how quickly we’ll be stopping, and I don’t want to be a bug on a galactic viewscreen, if you catch my meaning.”
