She made a fresh plate of crossiants, and had a thermos of tea on the side. The painting kits and her bonsai trees were on the shelves around the room in a different order. Dinui had a PaDD set aside to make notes as needed, she had Allendor’s file on another PaDD but she had not read it yet. She wanted to get her own base line and opinion before seeing what previous counselor’s felt was important to know about Allendor’s mental state.
Dinui xi’Indrai, Chief Counselor
It had been a couple days since Mazi and the Counselor had met on the Holodeck. Here she was, now standing outside the woman’s door, in her uniform, prepared to do what must be done to resume her duties. The last few months had been hard on everyone. But she thought she had adjusted well and wanted to just return to work and move on. She reached up and once more absently scratched the ridge between her antennae. Sometimes she hated them.
Raising her palm to the panel, she chimed her arrival and waited entrance.
Lt JG Mazhari Allendor
Engineer“Come in and make yourself at home.” Dinui said as she got to her feet as the doorway parted, she smiled at seeing Mazhari, “Good afternoon Lt Allendor, would you like a crossiant and some tea or something else from the replicator instead?”
Dinui xi’Indrai, Chief Counselor
Seeing the tea and pastries, she nodded. “Thank you. I haven’t had a croissant since my father and I used to get them together before I left for The Academy. To be honest, I hadn’t given them any thought till now. And tea is fine as well. I can help.” She was already moving towards the table having veered from the seat she had been aiming for on arrival.
Glancing around at the other things in the room, she smiled slightly. “Nice to see you have hobbies. Ship time can get lonely without them.” She didn’t have many, herself, besides swimming and simply sitting on the shores of the holo seas. But she knew it was something folks were supposed to have and it was comforting, in a way, to see the Counselor prominently display her own time fillers.
A slight shiver ran through Mazi as she remembered her father and her spending mornings with tea and croissants. She hadn’t thought about him in a couple weeks and the shiver was because it wasn’t like her to not think of him every day. She scratched the antennae base on her head as they twitched in response to her minor spike of anxiety.
