The analysis continued to chug away, no immediate patterns came up as a match, but given the pulse patterns it did have a ‘speech’ like pulse quality to it indicating seemingly intelligent life nearby. Full analysis would take a few hours at this point there did not seem much else to learn on scans.

After checking with Riley and Genard, Fayth returned to her office, pulled up the sensor log of the pulses. Riley had already set the computer to run the signal through known algorithms. She sat and played it, listening in the quiet to it. Sometimes the mind could make connections that seemed vague but it was a connection non-the-less where a computer, bound by logic, could not. As each algorithm finished she had the computer start another one. It could be mathematical, it could also be musical (which was similar and connected to math, but different enough), rhythmic like Morse code. She then had the computer pull up the visual feed of the pulse. Perhaps it was a visual language, creating a picture or series of colors to be interpreted.

As the feeling of the Ark Angel beginning to maneuver was felt at impulse speeds, analysis results began to form on the holo screen in front of Fayth. Audio wise the language was indeed alien of no known species. The pattern of speech though seemed almost enticing, as well as excited at what was being said. Visually results also came up, it showed an alien humanoid with deep olive-green skin, whether it was male or female was hard to tell though at the present time. The figure though was dressed in a strange checkered shirt and pants with criss crossing straps of cylindrical like objects about the figure’s chest. The alien had two eyes, a nose, a mouth and two ear like lobes. As well as two arms and legs, though the fingers were three in number and an opposable thumb. The alien seemed to match the excitement of the audio file, its gesturing almost seeming to draw in the watcher. There then was a cross split picture of some kind of long metal angular object, perhaps a spaceship with more alien text language flashing across it in sweeping patterns. The message in total length was about 20 seconds long before it cut out to a fade to black.

When the signal picked back up things had changed, two aliens like in the first part of the message one this time clearly female the other male like, were now seemingly exchanging words in their native tongue. The language tone sounded heated, almost angry as they were going at it back and forth clearly arguing or debating something. The two aliens were in grey-olive-green suit like shirts/pants behind a quarter moon like ‘desk’ or something similar. In between the two figures a static pair of images were set both of two different male like aliens, these though were different, having silver-green toned skin with a leathery feather like pattern on their bodies. A sort of wavy line was crossed over the left figure while the right side figure had a sort of check like image. What the olive-green aliens were arguing over and what this all meant wasn’t perhaps quite clear yet, though perhaps one could make theories.

The message looked like a news briefing to Sharah, but she was horrible at interpreting body language, tone, and inflection. Despite being able to hear and feel what everyone was thinking and feeling the sheer amount made it hard for her to interpret the subtleties of such things. And this was a recorded message without those psychic clues that might help her. Where ever it had come from was outside even her exceptional range of perception. She set the UT to begin trying to decipher their language and then connected the feed to her station on the bridge. She sent a message to her staff she’d be on the bridge if they needed her.

Sharah returned to her office and glanced the computer to see if it was having any luck getting the UT to turn the message they had picked up into anything they could read. She’d give the computer a little more time and then see if there was a linguistic specialist on board.

She sent out a message to all the lab and shift heads in the department. =^=By now you’ve all heard the captain’s announcement. I would like you all in my office at 1100 hours with a status report of your labs and locations. Fayth Out.=^=

Then she headed out to the arboretums to check the status. She tracked down Andrea. Sharah wanted to move forward with Andrea’s idea to make the arboretums more natural and self-sufficient by introducing insects into the environment. She also wanted Andrea to run tests to determine how much CO2 the arboretums were recycling back into O2. Sharah had a vague idea that with the size of the three arboretums they might be able to be used to support back up life support, or even be used as emergency locations. Then she sent Andrea down to Arboretum 3 with as many of her staff as could be spared to work on increasing the productivity. She joined them for a while, gathering what she needed to start creating medicines to help support sickbay’s supply. She then returned to her office and set everything she’d gathered in her mini lab and waited for the lab heads to arrive.
