USS Ark Angel

Main Sim - Sickbay 1 - Holiday Pranks?

[snip]

It was early morning in sickbay 1, and the medical department was fairly empty this morning as the shift change came over. But what set them rising in curiosity was the sudden realization that the sickbay medical lab that held a variety of plants for medicinal study had the previous night just been planted. But now found they were in full bloom! A ribbon around the large table read. ‘With all my love, Santa!’

Hayley was just stepping through the sickbay doors when NE Rudolf popped out of the med lab gesturing wildly to catch her attention. “Doctor Marshall!” She called, “You have to see this!”

Hayley made her way to the lab and stopped short as she stepped inside, a stunned look on her face. “Ensign Rudolf, wasn’t this lab supposed to be sealed?”

Ensign Rudolf answered quickly, worried she was going to be blamed for whatever had gone wrong, “It was Doctor, I was just checking the enviro controls when the door popped open on it’s own. I looked in and well, saw that! I didn’t do anything! Honest!”

Hayley shook her head and replied. “I’m sorry ensign, I didn’t mean to infer you had. Why don’t you continue your shift checks and I will look into it.” As NE Rudolf gladly moved away to continue her duties Hayley consulted the computer looking for any disturbances in Sickbays systems. She also tapped her comm. =/\= Lt. Marshall to Lt. Fayth - could you stop by Sickbay when you have a moment? I need to show you something.”

=^=This if Fayth. I’ll be there as soon as I can Doctor. Fayth out.=^= Marshall didn’t have to wait long. She stepped through sickbay to see that everyone was as perplexed as her science staff was. She asked after Dr. Marshall and was pointed to the medical lab and stepped in. “What can I do for you Dr Marshall?” Then she saw the plants and the letter, “Oh boy.”

Lt jg Fayth, CSO

“Oh boy indeed, Lt. Those were planted last evening. After planting the enviro controls were set and the lab sealed for optimal but still normal growing conditions. Apparently this morning the doors unsealed on their own revealing that. I really don’t quite know what to make of it!”

Sharah reached over and grabbed a tricorder, flipped it open and scanned the plants using the probe. “Someone decorated our fig tree in the main arboretum too. That wasn’t so bad. But then they snuck into the locked habitat with the frost lily and decorated it too. The security feeds went down, the security locks on the habitat when down, and there is no data recorded on the ships sensors for that time either. Why don’t you run a check on those things for sickbay as well. There is something going on on the bridge as well.” Sharah watched the tricorder looking to see if it would tell her how the plants had been tampered with. “Cpt Drudoc suggested running a diagnostic to see what caused the malfunctions and rebooting the logs from the tertiary computer core. I’ve got the computer science lab on it, but we may need to call in engineering if this is something ship wide.”

Lt. jg Fayth, CSO

“I’ve already started running some checks. Just waiting for the results to pop up. I’ll notify the Captain as well. I can’t believe anyone would be crazy enough to decorate the Frost Lily!” She gestured toward the plants. “This could be put down to mischief, but playing with the Frost Lily is outright dangerous! Maybe you should head back over to the Arboretum. As festive as all this is, I don’t really have a great feeling about it. I’ll keep you posted as to what we find here.”

Jr. Lt. Marshall, CMO

Sharah nodded and handed the tricorder to Hayley. “Let me know what these readings say. And just to be on the safe side. Let’s move these down to arboretum 3 and set up a quarantine. We don’t want to use them for meds or let them near the other plants until we know if something is wrong with them.” She left sickbay, considering the what might have made the plants grow that fast. She rubbed her temples…the level of anxiety and stress on the ship slowly sky rocketing the longer the morning wore on.
Lt.jg Fayth, CSO

Hayley made the necessary arrangements for the plants and advised the computer to advise her when the scan results were available. She also sent messages to both the Captain and Engineering advising them of the occurrence. Those tasks taken care of, she retired to her office to go over shift reports and have a soothing cup of tea. There was a sense of impending ‘something’ in the air. It was enough to cause a prickling sensation on the back of her neck.

Jr. Lt. Marshall, CMO

Scan results soon came in, the plants were normal enough, they were regular full bloomed examples of their species nothing showed up showing how they grew up so fast though on scans! Video log reviews painted a different picture though. Sometime around 0100 hours in the morning a plump figure in a red-white suit phased into the lab in a flash of white and made ‘ho ho ho’ sounds before waving his hands over the plants and in another flash of light the ribbon, message, and plants all flashed into full growth.
