(snip)Sharah returned to her quarters....late. She spent extra time in the lab, down in the arboretums, anywhere, but her quarters. She eventually made her way back and entered. The work Tabris had done that day obvious. The ceiling looked…wonderful. Exactly what she had pictured, and that made her sad. She could see the materials set out and was very careful not to move anything. She was sure he had placed everything where he would need it and it would be very disrespectful of her to just move it when he went to all that trouble. Sharah moved past the materials and into the bedroom. She dug out a change of clothes from the crate and got ready for bed. Her head hurt and she was too far in the spiral to realize she was doing it to herself. Her guilt was feeding on itself and like a magnet it amplified those thoughts and feelings from others that she picked up which in turn increased her own guilt.
Tabris was a little surprised to not see her but figured she still needed to process. He was doing his best to stay positive but something panged at him, a feeling like he really had blown it. He knew she had said she didn’t mean to, he was the one being a jerk and then confronting her about it. He buried that as best as he could and returned to his work.
She forgot to check Hope and her roses, skipped checking her mail or sending any letters that night. She barely remembered to set the delta waves. Maybe, maybe tomorrow she would pull herself together and find Tabris and apologize. But the next morning she got up, exhausted and more guilt ridden than before, put on a fresh uniform and headed to the labs. She had to try and pull herself together. She had the morning briefing and then she had a meeting with the XO, the doctor, and CNS today. She wanted to leave a note to thank Tabris, but she didn’t figure he wanted to hear from her anyway. Again she left the door to open for him and went to report for her shift.
Lt. jg Fayth, CSOHe arrived the next day, everything left in it’s perfect place. It’s like she hadn’t even been home. Did she stay elsewhere? Did he affect her that much? He blinked a few times and raised his glasses with his thumb and pointer finger to rub at his eyes a little before looking at the plans. ‘Time to get started on the walls’ Tabris thought to himself as he programmed larger planks, 12 x 4 with a similar algorithm for the nail heads and the same locking core. He installed panel by panel and worked methodically to make sure that it stayed rustic all the while being up to standard code and class for starships.

Sharah arrived back at her quarters. It was a testament to how much trouble she was having that even though she could ‘hear’ Tabris working in her quarters there was so much noise that she didn’t identify the presence and that it was in her quarters. She walked in and stopped, “Oh…Ens I’m sorry. I’ll....I’ll come back. I didn’t realize you’d still be working. I…I just…” She exchanged her PaDD for one on the desk. “I’m sure you don’t want to be around me.” She glanced down at her hand, I love you Sharah, now stop being afraid. She shifted her feet awkwardly. “Is Geoff settling in okay?” She asked because she knew Tabris cared a lot about Geoff and Geoff was very attached to Tabris. It was an honest question, but she had a hard time with social conventions and wouldn’t understand if it was a wrong question or not.

Tabris was lost in thought at work and Sharah would hear him think, ‘Man this is easier then even a nail gun, what I wouldn’t have given to have this back in the day.’ He was startled and dropped the carpenter’s square on his foot. “Oww....” He said as he bounced a little on that foot before saying, “Lieutenant stop. There’s nothing wrong between us I wanted to apologize for how I reacted.” He said as he thought as well, ‘I hope I didn’t screw up so badly’. He pondered her question as he said, “As far as I know Geoff is settling in fine, I had meant to ask you how she was doing, you have a far easier way to communicate with her than I do.” Tabris said as he took a gulp, ‘I hope she doesn’t think I’m just trying to be polite, I thought we could be friends.’ He thought before thinking, ‘Oh crap, maybe I’m being pushy with my thoughts, I’m not trying to be! If I’m thinking out loud than that’s fine. I’m ok if she responds to my thoughts, it’s just new for me.’ His thoughts were mixed, his emotions were that of worry and self doubt himself, hoping he hadn’t screwed up the entire circumstance.
