Riley exhaled slowly through his nose and rubbed a hand down his face. He held his chin for several long moments before reaching for his combadge. His hand hovered there before dropping to his side. I don’t know where she is, and if we want to keep this semi-hidden…

He tapped the console and created a new message to Lieutenant Fayth.

From: Ensign Riley, Matthew Subject: Sensitive Request
Lieutenant, Scans are still under way. Short-range specialist NEnsign Shannon is assisting. I have found some peculiar results that I would like your permission to get assistance from engineering in deciphering. If you grant it, where would be the best location to meet them, you think? Sincerely, Matthew

Riley’s eyes swept it, reviewing. He nodded, then tapped the Send button, before he turned and walked over to NEnsign Shannon’s station.

“What have you got on that radiation patch, Shannon?” he asked, peering over the science officer’s shoulder.
