Settling In and Rearranging - CSO's Office

Very dramatically Sharah placed a hand over her heart. “Oh my! A first contact, and in my office, on my first day of work!” She effected a very comical bow of greeting. “Welcome EXR-11. I welcome you to the science labs.” She glances at the pink bag, still not sure it won’t explode and cover her office in slime or glitter, or both. “A gift! Oh how thoughtful. I accept on behalf of our science division.” Sharah had absolutely no idea what she was doing. She glanced up to see NE Elbbirt and NLt Zohcov stop in passing by the door, peek in, and then chuckle wandering off to suppressed giggles and whispers. Sharah shook her head, and bit her lip trying to hide her own amusement of the robot in her office.

Lt. jg Fayth, CSO

The robot’s arms and hands after a second released the bag into Fayth’s grasp. Inside the bag were three small boxes. The first was rectangular in shape, the second oval in shape, and the third had a sort of cylinder shape along the bottom finishing up at the top as a triangle. The robot after Fayth removed these spoke again, it was Tel’eck’s voice again. =/\= Ahem Among the robot people of my cyber planet we feel it fitting to gift one who we see friendship with. We hope you like these humble gifts. =/\= She said.

When Fayth opened the 1st box she found what appeared to be a 22nd century hand scanner! (OOC: Here https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/memoryalpha/images/9/95/Starfleet_scanner%2C_2151.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20200521000653&path-prefix=en ) at first she might assume it was a replicated prop or model. But as she soon found out when pressing the ‘open/scan’ button on the closed device it hummed to life with a whirr and beep! It was indeed functional!

‘EXR-11’ Spoke again, =/\= We found this relic of Earth’s past on a past mission. It was forgotten and left behind by an Earth crew who were visiting at the time and forgotten. Since we can not return it to its proper owner and time period we felt you should have it. =/\=

When Fayth opened the 2nd box, inside she found a pop up model cone. Each level as it rose was engraved with ‘mysterious’ symbols (likely children doodles!) by hand. The top most part of the cone had a light on it which when pressed emitted a small holo display showing the time, temperature, and Fayth’s current rank.

Again ‘EXR-11’ spoke, =/\= While we were visiting the children of this fine ship’s kindergarten through fourth grade they asked us to deliver this gift they are giving to all of the senior staff to make it easier for them to know the time, temperature for adjusting uh the temperature locally for your humanoid frames, and to inspire your rise in rank to one day command! =/\=

Once Fayth opened the third and final box, she found a series of wooden sticks, at the top of which inside a little triangle plastic see-through case were small biomes of little insects of various kinds. (OOC: Think like tiny hand sized ant farms, but with other insects and environments then just dirt)

Lastly ‘EXR-11’ spoke =/\= This last gift was from the children of the 5th and 6th grade science club, they were tasked to find a means to allow transplanted insects to thrive in small portable environments. After much lengthy debate and study this was their result! =/\= it whirred.

EXR-11 Robot

Fayth looked at all of the different gifts and was touched. She also loved how the children were responsible enough to find a way to deliver them without getting into trouble for being in restricted areas. She opened the scanner and tested it briefly. “What an amazing piece of history. Thank you EXR-11.” The cone she held gently and took the time to look at each of the ‘gliffs’ taking guesses about what they meant. Then she carefully placed it on her desk, in a place of honor, just to the right of her computer screen. The box of insect farms she set on her desk. This actually fed right into something that the civilian botanists had talked to her about. Wouldn’t that be an awesome way to get the older science students involved? She was going to have go talk to some people today about this. She looked at each biome in turn, naming the ones she knew and letting EXR-11 name the ones she ‘didn’t.’ “These are wonderful. Thank you so much.” She got up from her desk and went over to the replicator. She came back with a small bag that she handed to the robot. “These are for you. Thank you for my gifts from such a wonderful friend.” The bag contained an assortment of small miniature toys and candy.

There was a muffled ‘woop’ sound from the speaker, followed by ‘hush’ or ‘be quiet you’re ruining it again!’. Tel’eck cleared her throat though and tried to salvage the ‘roleplay’ of being EXR-11 as it took the return gift. =/\= Sadly my uh superior robot frame can not consume such fine gifts, nor uh have need of them. But I know several of your fellow crew mates who would find these quite rewarding! =/\= it said.

Once Fayth had finished, the Robot turned on a pivot and backed out of the office, whirring to the right and soon into the hall out of sight, faint muffles before the door shut of ‘hurry up and get it back to the school room!’ were heard from several voices girl and boys of young age eager for the candy and toys most likely.

EXR-11

Sharah mouth quirked in suppressed laughter. She waited while the unique, seeming ready to fall apart at the seems child crafted robot exited the science labs. Her office door had been open the entire time, and once the robot disappeared Sharah could hear the laughs from her staff up and down the corridor. She collapsed back in her chair in a fit of giggles, until tears streamed down her face. Finally she caught her breath and wiped her face. She waved a couple of the NEs back to work as well. She glanced at the status console, for no more reason than something non-comical to look at. Everything was fine. As she turned back she stopped looking at the picture on her desk. “Now I know why you want children, Imzadi.” She started laughing again, softly this time, “That crew right there is going to drive your authoritarian personality right up the wall.” And that thought sent her into another fit of laughter.

Shaking her head she got up and ordered a glass of water, and then sat down by the flowerbed to get the flowers planted. She figured since there were no more robots trying to make first contact with her, now was a good time to get the work done.
