[snip]Drudoc seemed sympathetic to the disruption she had caused poor Fayth. “..My apologies Lieutenant.” She said using the new CSO’s new rank. “..I had gotten caught up in the moment that it slipped my mind how such applause may cause you discomfort.” She stated.
Once Fayth had gotten tended to Drudoc allowed the party to resume its earlier motions and hub bub as she took her seat again now alone with Fayth and Marshall having left. “..Will you be joining the festivities, Commander?” She asked.

Dinui noticed something had happened between the small grouping of command staff but without an actual request for assistance, she could only guess at the situation. She would make inquiries lightly, in the meantime, she would stick around on the side lines in case she was needed.

“I am not above enjoying socializing with the crew Captain, tho if anyone asks I will flame it is all for crew moral.” After a moment observing the bowlers. “Would you show me the ‘game’ Sir?

Drudoc chuckled a bit sipping her tea, “..Afraid I never got around to playing the bowling game. So you’re asking the wrong officer I’m afraid commander sorry.” She replied.

About this point some NE’s across the alleyway cheered as one of the games finished up and a winner was decided. Drinks were imbibed and passed around using the Syntheol the bar keep had served up. One of the male NE’s in question came over to where Drudoc was sitting with the XO and the others. “..Evening Captain!” the NE said. “..I’m NE Varley.” He said extending a hand.
Drudoc set her glass down, and rose accepting the NE’s hand. “..Good to meet you Varley. Pardon me for now recognizing you but what department are you in?” She asked.
”..Oh! Yeah I guess on a ship this size it’s hard to keep track of us NE’s.” He said with a faint chuckle. “..I’m in the ship’s operations department. Specifically handling cargo transfers internally around the ship to people’s quarters.” he explained.
”..An important task more then people give credit for. I take it you were the one who’s team just won the recent round of games?” Drudoc said inviting Varley to join them. Getting a nod in reply she continued introducing the others present. “..This is our new XO Lt Commander Soval, and Lt Marshall, Fayth and xi’Indrai.” She said.

Hayley smiled and held out a hand. “Good to meet you NE Varley.”

Sharah, stopped eyeing the door and settled back in her seat. She slid the now ignored pip from the table and into her pocket. While the other officers were chatting she used a visualization technique to try and rise above the noise so she could concentrate. Oh, she’d be still be in pain, but for the moment she would function, she hoped. She looked at the new comer, scanning her memory of the recent conversation. From the other side of the table she couldn’t shake his hand without rudely reaching across. She raised her hand an a friendly acknowledgment. “Congratulations to you and your team Varley.”
Lt jg Fayth, CSO“Well met Mr. Varley.” Soval did not extend his hand, tho would not refuse if it was offered. He was still concerned for the newly promoted Lieutenant. “Thank you for your duty to the Ark Angel.” After a pause,” I am grateful.” Small gestures may not be important to his fellow Vulcans, they were however of great value to other species

Varley seemed pleased with the attention given to him. He clearly wasn’t one to make light of any winnings or accomplishments. “..Maybe you would like to join me for a drink Captain? Something a little sterner then your iced tea?” He asked brazenly. He wasn’t openly ogling the amble Romulan CO, but his line of thought was clear to anyone even without telepathy of what he might like to do if she was willing.
Finishing her tea, Drudoc set the glass down. “..I will have to decline Mr. Varley. I will be due back at my quarters to enjoy the dinner my daughter wished to try to make on her own this evening..” She said.
Adjusting his stance a bit, Varley wasn’t quite backing down though at the Captain’s refusal. “..Well maybe I could escort you to your quarters hmm?” he said in a parody of an attempt at a Vulcan’s quizzical raised eyebrow gesture.
Rising Drudoc shook her head, “..Again I must decline, such would not be appropriate at this juncture..” she said calmly.
”..What you don’t think your daughter could prepare three meals for us?” he asked with a bit of a grin now in challenge. Clearly even though Syntheol didn’t make one drunk he was letting its effects of loosening lips a bit effect him.
Despite this Drudoc kept on, “..Not at all. My daughter despite her young age could easily handle the grilled cheese and homemade tomato soup she is preparing for me. The amount is not in question, only that you don’t seem to be getting my polite hints of ‘no’. Ensign..” She said now switching to more formal tone of rank. “..You should take yourself elsewhere and sleep off the effects of the Syntheol before your next shift..”
Clearly showing his young age, and foolishness though Varley swaggered over and attempted to brazenly put an arm around Drudoc’s shoulders. He only got as far as doing so half way before he found himself quickly restrained on the table with an arm that he had extended behind his back. “..Argh! What the hell?” he said now in surprise and a bit of pain from the sudden maneuver by the Romulan woman. The slight thud Varley made on the table in front of the pair caused most in the nearby area of the bowling alley and bar to quiet down and look over at what was going on.
”..Ensign, when anyone tells you ‘no’ to a question like you made, I suggest you put your thoughts of just ‘how good you are’ aside and accept that no means no. Now, once more you will return to your quarters, sleep off the effects of your drinks, and still rise and be prepared for your next shift, which unless I missed my guess starts in four hours. Also expect a note to your supervisor to be working a shift and a half as infraction for this behavior, later tonight..” She stated.
”..Y....yes ma’am..” He said, thankfully not doing much to be an idiot or embarrass himself further.
Releasing the young Ensign, he rubbed his own shoulder, then muttered an apology to all present before heading out. Sighing Drudoc shook her head looking to Soval. “..Commander, see that there is a general review given to all departments about off duty interactions. Specifically about boundaries of interactions with fellow crew. I have perhaps been too lax of late and between this and some other events I’ve heard of lately before your arrival we’ll need to tighten the belt so to speak. If then there is nothing else, I wish you all a good evening and enjoyment of the remaining festivities..” She said with a more friendly attitude to everyone present.

“Of corse, Sir. Would you intend a culture of casual professionalism or strictly of professionalism?” Soval suspected the former, as they were serving on a family ship, but as they were certain to be overheard, he wanted the rumor mongers to spread the word that there was another option and that the XO was willing if not eager to implement it. Noting to himself to call the Operations Chief and provide a heads up as well as beginning to compose an addition to the shift briefings concerning the difference between flirtatious behavior off duty and sexual harassment.
