Sharah nodded, “I carried a PaDD around for two weeks to make sure I could find things. The computer interface will do that for you, but I learned the hard way that can get confusing with your path crosses 10 others and you follow the wrong one.” Fayth grins, “I ended up in deflector dish control instead of the chemistry lab.”
Riley lifted his PADD. “Guilty,” he said said sheepishly. “I got lost in the dorms at the Academy for my first two weeks there,” he admitted with a laugh.
He paused, thinking again. “In your experience so far, how has the split been between required work and personal work been?”

“So far, on Ark Angel it’s been,” she tips her head to the side, evaluating, “a good balance. The first couple weeks it was all personal work. We had no specific assignments. It was a nice way to get adjusted, then we got orders, and distress signals came in, and it got serious. So unfortunately I can’t offer you that laid back first two weeks. I have a specific assignment for you, once your check-ins are done. But while you are waiting for results, or meetings, or the computer, don’t be afraid to work on your own things. Just balance it.”
OOC: Putting this here so I don’t forget or lose any of it, not trying to rush your check in.
IC:
“I need you to use long and short range scanners to get all the information you can on this system and a ship called the Montezuma. You can use the labs or the auxillary science stations on the bridge. I’ve been running tests on samples I’ve taken off the shuttle. We need as much information as possible so we aren’t arriving blind. This is what we know so far from the computer: No listing of this mystical Pandiri was present, in fact, the world is only mentioned vaguely anywhere it’s referenced–vague scans showing some sort of sensor ghost, the occasional sighting against the nearest star, and the like, but nothing to confirm the planet was there–nor any reason the Montezuma would’ve been asked to check on it. The search would reveal that the Montezuma was listed on a “self-assigned” scientific mission, located in a newly formed Nebula known as the Lion’s Mane Nebula, due to how it’s ring-like shape flared out from the center. The Montezuma’s class listing showed that it was a ‘refit’ Galaxy class, with no mention on what the refit entailed or how the ship had been changed. Mission assignment logs showed no mention–by name–of this mythical Pandiri, however a brief line did mention a planet.”OOC: And here are links to the start of different threads so you can look over it. What is above should be (GM correct me if I’m wrong) information that is available to anyone searching the computer.

Riley straightened and nodded. “Of course. That’s why I joined. As soon as I’m cleared for duty, I’ll get right on it.”
As she spoke, Riley accessed the ship’s library on his PADD, checked for recent sensor activity, and began tagging logs for later perusal. He added searches for Pandiri, Lion’s Mane Nebula, and Montezuma.
“I’ll see what I can find,” he finished, laying the PADD back in his lap. “Anything else?”

Sharah hesitated. It was just a hunch based on what she’d found with her own lab results, but better safe than sorry. “Whatever you find, don’t talk about it. Tell me, tell the Cpt or XO if you need to, but not anyone else. And tell me if you see any of our guests snooping around. I’m probably paranoid, but” Sharah shrugs. Maybe it was nerves from her new position, but it just didn’t add up.
Lt jg Fayth, CSO
Riley sat completely still for a heartbeat, recalling his request to lock down data access aboard the Challenger. “Understood, Lieutenant,” he replied, nodding, and passcode protected the data he had saved. She clearly had her reasons; he figured he would find out why in due time.
