Posted by… suppressed (2) by the Post Ghost! 👻Sharah was not doing well, and she’d made a promise. She intended to keep it. She may not have control over all the events in her life, or even her gift, but she did have the choice to take care of herself. And she hadn’t been doing a very good job of it. She’d been distracted and simply trying to get by day-to-day. She knew better, and it was always going to be a struggle. But she hadn’t finished her onboarding eval with Dr Freeman. He had wanted to be thorough and she appreciated that. But now he was gone and she had to start all over again.
Sharah was as unsure about this appointment as she had the one with Dr. Freeman. She’d always been very comfortable and very open with counselors and psychiatrists. She’d been under their care since she was a small child. Her condition, No Sharah, not condition, you aren’t sick. her gift made it necessary to work out all the mess that landed in her head. However before Dr Feeman the previous CNSs had been very unwilling to work with her and one even accused her of expecting special treatment because of it. She sighed. As far as oversensitive telepaths went, Sharah did extremely well. She wasn’t as telepathically talented as Tam Elbrum, but was was skilled and she worked hard at controlling it. Most like her didn’t have her level of control and it was exhausting. Often making her seem anti social. The mental strain required a lot of down quiet time. She enjoyed working with others, but her personal time, was reserved for herself or the very few shew as able to actually relax around. Her gift required a lot of rest. She’d been hospitalized 3 times, and she had no desire for it to happen a 4th time.
So she stood outside the counselor’s office, feeling trepidation, again. How was this CNS going to perceive her? Sharah had a lot of responsibility on her now. Now she was the CSO and she earned it, at least that’s how the CO felt, and Sharah wanted to make sure she continued to deserve it. And she had a life waiting for her, Joseph was waiting for her, and she didn’t want to miss it. She rang the chime and waited.
Lt. jg Fayth, CSO
Dinui had slowly been making small changes to the office that was now her own, the color in the room was a cool mint green along the port side walls, the starboard side were lavender. There were several shelves around the room each with it’s own center piece, the majority were from her personal collection of bonsai trees, two shelves however had blank canvas and sealed painting kits. She sat in a chair, the desk was significantly smaller than it had been for the previous counselor, she wanted the extra room for a bigger couch and set of chairs for folks to sit comfortable and relax. There was a platter of fresh croissants on her desk and at the sound of the chime she looked up with a smile, “It’s open!”
Dinui rose to her feet and nodded at the room, “Make yourself at home, would you like anything to drink or maybe one of these croissants?”

Sharah entered and paused in the door way just a moment taking in the changes. She liked the color changes in the room. It was peaceful, and reminded her of plants with the cool mint green and lavender colors. Sharah entered and taking Dinui at her word she walked right over to the shelves with the Bonsai trees and began a very knowledgeable inspection of the plants. She named them all just from sight from across the room, “Cherry blossom, Japanese red maple, Juniper, Hinoki Cypress, Boxwood,” she smiled, “A money tree, Acacia, Dwarf Pomegranate, Ginkgo, and Japanese Winterberry.” She turned to look at Dinui, “All beautiful choices. Your cherry blossom needs a bigger pot though and your Juniper is over watered. If you are looking for a new one, I would recommend a Snow Rose. They are beautiful and very unique.” Sharah moved over toward the counselor and offered her hand. “En…” she grins, “Junior Lt. Fayth. I’m not quite used to the new rank yet.” She took an offered croissant, “Ice water please.” She took a seat on one of the couches and sat back relaxing. She would make a new start and she would find her comfort in these sessions again.
Lt jg Fayth, CSO
Snow RoseDinui shook the offered hand gently yet firmly, “Dinui xi’Indrai, I get my own rank backwards half of the time, I prefer names to rank when I can get away with it, if you have no objection here or wherever you would rather have your session you’re welcome to call me Dinui or Din.”
“I would prefer that as well. Please call me Sharah.”
She got the iced water and a few slices of fruit that she left on the side. Strawberry, uttaberries, lemon, kiwi, and a few others. That way if Sharah wanted to add flavor to the water she had the option available. “I will look at the trees later Thank you for your suggestions.” She got a mug of french vanilla cappuccino but infused it with a small bit of melted Andorian chocolate.
Sharah smiled at the fruit. She never flavored her water, prefering it to be clean, cold, and crisp. But she did eat the uttaberries. “My father grows these back home. I may try to grow my own plant on board.”
“I know you met briefly with Dr Feeman, but I would prefer to start fresh with you if that is alright?” Dinui said softly as she regarded the taller woman, to have such a strong gift or ability she had grown up with, Sharah had faced many challenges and each day was likely a taxing one not only to her energy but her sense of personal well being. If there was a way for Dinui to help her find a better balance she would certainly try her get yo figure it out.

Sharah nodded as she sipped her water. “That would be easier, wouldn’t it? Rather than me wondering what was written down or not in his notes. Wondering if I’m repeating myself or not. If I’ve missed something, or talked about it so much that he’s put it in big red letters in my file.” She smiles a little. Her file was massive. She knew, because she never failed to pick up on the shock that people felt at seeing the size of it for someone of her younger age. There was a lot there to go over and the file would only continue to grow as she continued her career. She finishes the croissant. “That was very good. Thank you. Where would you like to start, Dinui? As the patient I prefer to answer your most pressing questions first. When given the chance to choose for myself I tend to speed process and ramble on and it only connects and makes sense in my head. I’m sure there is much for you to learn from me that way, but,” she pauses trying to articulate the thought, “I feel better knowing I’ve answered your most pressing questions/concerns/curiosity first. I tend to second guess myself a lot, so it helps.”
Lt jg Fayth, CSO
Dinui nodded softly, “Well my main reason is I prefer making my own judgment, every counselor is different just as every patient is. You go see three doctors they each generally have their own approach and conclusions.”
She looked at Sharah gently, “If you ever need a break just say so I don’t want to have you exhausted or anything. I don’t know the full extent of your ability and if you need me to do something to let you have better focus or something else please let me know.”
Dinui nodded towards the bonsai trees from her collection “I was going to suggest trying taking care of one of those as part of a possible relaxation therapy but since you’re very obviously involved with plants, would you like to perhaps try your hand at painting or would you be interested in cooking lessons if that is you don’t already know?”
