As he finished off everything left on his plate as he ordered another drink. “I am surprised they did not just send me home, killing my service with the fleet and this ship.” Trax said as he downed the last bit of his old beverage as he waited for another one. “I appreciate the company. Ensign Fayth!” Trax said politely to her. “What else is on your agenda? Have you checked with everyone yet?” Trax asked as he tried to change the subject.

“Right now, just a meal and then get settled into my quarters. I’ve finished all my check-ins. I had hoped to at least get a glance at the arboretums today, but I think I will have to save that for early tomorrow. I have no idea how well they have been maintained. So I may have a lot of work ahead of me, or none at all.” She was also looking forward to the peacefulness that the work brought to her chaotic mind.

“Good now you can take your time and get settled in and take in the sites the ship has to offer.” Trax said with a half smile. I know the check ins can be a bear but its nice to have them all done.” He said sincerely to her. “Well if there is a lot of work or not you will be fine the arboridum will be in fine hands.”

“There were certainly a lot of them. Usually I have 2: psych and then my medical and department check-ins over lapped. Today I had 4. It kept me running all over the ship.” Sharah finished her sandwich and sipped at her water. “On a ship this big I’m sure my predecessor has done a fine job. The discovery class vessels I served on previously…their arboretums were neglected badly. There wasn’t a lot of call to keep them thriving. Hopefully, they won’t get that way again.” Sharah had spent a lot of time on saving them. It hadn’t been her job, she’d done it because she wanted to and no one else was willing. They were small arboretums though, and now she had THREE to look after. She was excited about it. “What do you do on ship, Trax?”

Trax realized he was not in uniform so it was no obvious to her about his position. “I was the chief medical officer but I am now just another Jo Doctor in medical now.” Trax commented softly to her. “I believe you will make a great contribution and restoration of the arboretums. They’re going to become amazing pieces of art and beauty. ” Trax said with a smile.

“OH! We should talk shop. I’m a doctor by training.” She laughs more out of embarassment, “So I too have made a career change it would seem. Now I’m a scientist and specifically a botanist. I think it’s probably a excellent move for me though. I’d never make a good CMO, so I’d always be a JO, but the medicine is more important than the position, right? For me anyway. Being CMO or a JO does’t change how good you are at what you do. You are still a doctor with skills, no one can take that away from you.”

Trax listened to her words carefully. “Your right I am a good doctor. And that skill cant be taken away from me.” Trax commented politely to her. “So you were a doctor?” Trax asked Why the change?” Trax wondered. As he sat there quietly now. “I am surprised you not a counselor you would make a good one.” Trax commended politely.

It was a minute or so before Sharah answered his question. Depending on how strong of a telepath/empath Trax was, he might be able to tell that the mental noise was very loud for her. She tugged on her hair absently before turning back to him. “I recently finished some research and that work got me the attention of the science department, I guess. I was working on compiling a list of medicinal plants and how to use them in emergency situations. I minored in botany at the academy. I would say I’m still a doctor, but right now I’m working on the research side, I guess.” Her eyes tracked the room as if someone had called her name. She turned her focus back, her face showing almost pain. Her over-sensitivity had made her look outside of Betazed for a life and career. In a way she felt the same since of loss as Trax for their home world. Though she could go home, she was never really accepted. “I’m happy for the change though. I love working with plants and the research I’ve been working on. If you ever have the time, I’d love to share it with you.”

Trax noticed the difficulty she was having if he could block the emotions from her he would, but if he could he would try maybe some Vulcan techniques might help he thought to himself. but he knew it would take time for her to learn. “There is nothing wrong with research. We can learn a lot from plants. I will be honored to learn to handle planets better I would love to have the chameleon roses growing better. They’re doing ok but I believe they can be better.” Trax said with a small smile. “I noticed your still having issues with closing your mind from all the minds onboard… Have you tried any vulcan techniques?” Trax Suggested.

“I’d be happy to show you. Are the chameleon’s in the arboretum, or a personal plant? I’d be happy to look at them for you.” Sharah shakes her head hard, “No, no Vulcans. I worked with them, once. I was 10. Though I have found a modified version of their meditation technique works briefly.” Which Trax would know is too young. Betazoid’s don’t get their telepathy until they are 12 or 13 at the youngest…unless....Sharah shrugs, “I’m over sensitive. I was born with my gifts turned on. There is never a closing or turn off for those like me.” Sharah pauses a moment. He’ll either accept her or won’t. “I’ve been in and out of doctors and hospitals, psychiatric treatments all my life. A year ago though, I never would have been able to set foot on Ark Angel, must less served. It is something I live with everyday. It’s part of who I am. It’s all in my medical file,” she says. He’s a doctor and she has no problem with him knowing. He may, like many on Betazed, reject her, but it doesn’t bother her anymore.

“I have two plants one was donated to the main arboretum and the other plant is in my quarters.” Trax said calmly to her. Trax listened calmly to her. “You won’t have to worry about me. I appreciate your openness and candor. I don’t have any issues with you or your past issues. Your still a Betazoid and now a friend.” Trax said with sincerity. “You have gone through a lot to get where you are and I will do all I can to help you if I can.” Trax said politely to her. “I am sure all the information is in your medical files. But I am here to help you when you need it.” Trax said with a small smile. As he was at ease with her. Granted he missed his imzadi and the ambassador but she was helping in her own way.
