I was wracking my brain earlier trying to remember if there was a caveat to us accepting new members, and indeed there is.

Our charter says: New members are allowed on the USS Ogawa, provided they make a specific request to the Personnel Department to be on a Medical/Hospital Alt-RPG.

I had momentarily forgotten when we were asked to take a new member, and when I asked if they had requested us, I was told no (some part of my brain clearly was remembering something). I accepted them anyway. It doesn’t seem to matter as they’ve not posted or responded to me, but it does present a quandary. And indeed, we won’t know if them not jumping in is about the kind of sim they were placed on or not.

I get that we need ships to take new members, especially in light of the Challenger’s hiatus, but I’m not sure it’s a good idea or appropriate for a new member who knows little about our site to the assigned to such a specific Alt. Medical sims are not to everyone’s taste and I would hate to turn off a new member who is excited about STF by having them not enjoy the ship because its theme is so different than what they were expecting.

It’s my bad for not remembering that clause in our charter, and I might be convinced to alter that, but at this point I would need some strong reasons to go and change the charter.

I regret that I’m adding an extra complication into your placement of new members, but I do think enforcing the clause is best for the ship just now.
