Week 1 Nano 2021
A slow start for me, just over 200 words after 3 complete days in Australia. But a heavy few days work related, so it was expected.

I wanted to share two somethings that have been a part of Nano since its earliest years - Nanoisms and Mr Ian Woom

Nanoisms
As your fingers (hopefully) fly across your keyboard as you work on draft zero of your manuscript, occasionally they may have a mind of their own and type something unintended. While your first thought is probably delete delete delete, during November please fight that temptation! They are wordses and in November wordses are our precious. Instead, keep them, and share them! and let the rest of Nano know what you wrote and what you meant to write. I invite you to do the same thing here under my Nanoism thread. Of course, keep in mind the PG 13+ nature of the site and don’t post anything here (or in the Events channel on Discord) that’ll break that - that’s what after dark is for - and entertain us with the glorious nanoisms that your fingers come up with in November.

Mr Ian Woom
The shortened title of National Novel Writing Month is NaNoWriMo and the people who take part in them are NaNoWriMos the reason for me telling you this? No, it isn’t just so I cna have more words in November, that is part of it, yes, but not the only part of it, it is to introduce you to an important part of the Nano experience - the character of Mr Ian Woom and M(r)s/Ms Win Amoo(r), which are anagrams of NaNoWriMo(s). They are useful placeholder characters when you need a name for a character who has just appeared and they want to be named! Of course, you may have a dozen or so Mr Ian’s and Ms Win’s in your novel, but hey, if the Marvel Cinematic Universe Movies can have Stan Lees appearing in multiple movies, and all be called Stan Lee, we can do that in our Nanos as well.

Until next time, may your plot bunnies multiple like tribbles, may your fingers fly like the wind over your keyboard, may your characters speak to you loudly about what they want to do (and may their plans be similar/identical to your own) and may your Nanoisms be many and laugh enducing.
