This is a question for Sarah.

What goals did you and Steve have for this past term? Which did you meet and which did you not meet? I don’t recall your goals for the term being extensively communicated during the uncontested election.

Adam W.

Hi Adam,

While Steve and I never got into presenting the action item making stage of our platform, we’ve been using our planning spreadsheet pretty frequently throughout the term to try to get things done that we anticipated. Unfortunately, a lot of our focus had to be tabled due to COVID-19, which definitely required a pivot in the focus of the executive. Some other things ended up tabled (such as a fleet report revision) because there wasn’t follow through by the people entrusted with those responsibilities (and then, again, COVID-19 popped up). It’s been a valuable experience going into this term with what is reasonable to expect in eight months, particularly with everything going on in the world right now.

Let me narrow my question here as I’m a bit surprised by what I’m not seeing in your response.

Were there any goals that you had this past term that you met? What were they?

Hi Adam,

I’m sorry, I don’t think I understood how specific of a response you wanted. Here’s a quick overview of the overarching goals/focuses we had as part of our platform (many of which we didn’t really end up needing to present):

Modernizing STF
Steve and I intended to review all of the foundational bylaws to see what could stand being discussed/updated. While some of these discussions did occur with relevant Cabinet members, we did not end up having any formal Command discussions about bylaw changes (other than the one about in character ranks). In conversation about TECH’s setup, we did have a really productive, on-going conversation about how to best support the flow of communication between TECH and the Executive and TECH and the membership. Another aspect of this that we did accomplish was working on the new STF Library. I’ve played with the new system along with a few others and we’ve provided some feedback to be incorporated so we can keep moving forward on getting the Library updated and available.

Member Growth/Retention
Many of our goals here were about stabilizing ship environments to ensure that they were healthy, productive environments for players to participate. We’ve worked with FComms during the term to evaluate how ships are doing in their fleet and to ensure that they have the support they need to be fantastic environments that retain members. Steve and I spent a lot of time in group DMs strategizing about various situations in fleets and making sure that we could support them there. We did follow up on most of the New Member Taskforce recommendations from last term, ensuring that the relevant departments knew what they needed to do. A group of us worked to revise the handbook as well and hopefully that will come out soon no matter what happens next term.

Global Recognition Program
This is definitely one that didn’t get achieved. It was ear-marked for mid-term and, well, pandemic.

This term has been less productive than we expected, but I do think that it’s been an overall positive term.
