Another question to all…

I have seen the decline in membership over the years referenced many times since joining. While the membership tally clearly isn’t problematic, it surely is only positive for the club to be as broad and full of fresh blood as it can be.

Do the candidates have any novel ideas for making the club more visible with wider online reach?

Hi Jamie,

That’s such a good question and really how we got to one of our major platform points about uniqueness. Admittedly, I’m not as in touch with the greater sim community as some other members, but my understanding is that our custom ship specs are something that’s really special in STF and so highlighting that and getting people excited about it both inside STF and in the greater community is a way to set us apart from other similar sims. We’d like to make sure that this gets publicized via social media and any other venues.

This term, Steve and I began tossing around ideas how to highlight some of the amazing writing our members produce so that those outside the community can see it and, while we haven’t come up with any definite ideas, there has been some brain-picking going on to figure out what’s technically feasible there that I hope to continue to follow up on.

Thankfully, over the last few months, our Google standing has been fantastic and we’ve been getting new members from that, despite not spending much time on any fancy SEO (mwahaha I finally fit that into a post somewhere). Technically, I’m not sure there’s much that needs to be done, although we could certainly showcase TECH’s work as a unique implementation! I know we got some “press” back in the day for our Drupal modules. :)
