As we all know, there are several courses in STF, from departmental based ones, to XO/CO, to GM. But as they are right now, they’re rather hidden. I’d like to know the following:

*Does your ticket have any plans to make the courses more visible? If so, how?

*What, if any, plans do you have to promote people taking said exams?

*Should there be incentives for users to take the exams? If so, what kind?

*Should CO’s be advised to look for members who have taken an exam when looking to fill a roster spot?

We’re working on supporting the Librarian and TECH getting the new Library instituted, which will definitely make them more attractive! Back in the day, members received a promotion to Lieut (j.g.) when they completed an Academy course; I’m open to that discussion again, but I don’t have a strong feeling either way. What I’d really like to see, and is on our action items list, is working out a recommendations system where information like Academy courses passed is part of a member’s STF “resume.” I do think that Academy course completion should be taken into account by COs; it represents dedication to the club and to becoming a better role-player, which are qualities that anyone would like to see in a member of their ship!
