This is for both tickets. Whether answered by each of the four of you or as two tickets, that’s up to you.

I hear everyone saying ‘encouraging members to be in higher positions’. Limiting terms, opening other positions, etc.

I have been with the club over 10 years. In that time, “I” asked to be XO, “I” asked to be CO, and until just the last year, “I” always asked for DH positions. So I am guessing I don’t hold the qualities people are looking for to be ‘encouraged’ to be FComm, VP, Prez, or any other cabinet or Exec position higher than the CO position I currently hold.

So with that in mind… what qualities ARE you looking for? That way the new folks know what to expect and those of us who have never been asked can perhaps work on those slights so we can be ‘encouraged’ in the future.

Thanks for a great question. James and I feel that the first quality of a member to be considered for any position above JO is what you personally demonstrated… a willingness to serve!

Interest and excitement about supporting our community and making it fun for everyone involved is an essential component that we looked for in command of our own ships, when we served as FCOMMs, and what we will continue to look at if chosen to lead the club this coming term.

Personally, it’s what I looked at when you came to the Dresden and I, as a senior member of this club, apologize for you ever feeling that your desire to serve went unheard.

Your question is at the root of our platform and campaign… to make sure everyone has a voice and everyone that seeks to serve are encouraged to do so!

Specifically, we look to lead by example with Monthly Discord / Zoom meetings, approaching new members who are active on the boards and asking directly if they have an interest, potentially utilizing current Cabinet members to show interested parties what exactly they do, etc.

Finally, to better educate new members as to what each of the Directors do, if elected throughout the first two months of the term… the Exec will publish a “Meet Your Administration” in the newsletter that will be a showcase of the Cabinet jobs & admin positions with bios of the person serving in those roles.
