Election Ship
Campaign HQ - Candidates Sarah Hemenway and Robert Archer - Bringing Unique Back Part 2
Rob already covered the role that our unique specs play in STF. Time and time again, I’ve heard from new members how really interesting and cool it is that all of our role-playing areas are custom-designed.
Another area of the club that allows for customization is the Reference Manual. Throughout STF, you’ll find players trying out species of their own creation. It’s amazing to see FComms and COs working with these players to ensure that the species are balanced and have backstories that make sense. With the FCOMM guidelines on character creation more general now, there’s even more room for player creativity in this area. Rob and I endeavour to encourage players to document their species creations in the Reference Manual. This has three purposes: first, it allows the players interacting with those characters to have a better background on the typical characteristics of the species, which means better role-playing for all; second, if the species creator is willing, it allows other players to try out these custom-built species on their own characters, and third, it gives Gamemasters even more resources to build fun and interactive sims for our RP environments.
Action Items:
- Reach out to members playing custom species to assist in documenting the species in the Reference Manual.
- Ensure the Reference Manual process is clear and available and refocused on documenting custom species creations.
- Remove canon resources from the RM with the availability of other much better comprehensive resources such as Memory Alpha.
