Jerome, you recently quit the CO spot on the USS Dresden, which you have held for most of the past 4 years. In your resignation post, you explicitly state that “[your] real life took a turn that forced [you]” to step down: https://www.star-fleet.com/core/stf3/dresden/posts/86683/

This brings up two questions that I think really ought to be answered clearly before you ask us to spend any time considering your candidacy at all:

1. In order to run for President, you must meet criteria to be an active member, and maintain a certain level of activity during the entire election season. One of those criteria is, to hold an active roleplaying character, a gamemaster position, or a government position. As of right now, the only active roleplaying character that you maintain is Calvin Harris, which is the character you just resigned from playing. Steve Johnson as the President could appoint a new Commanding Officer to the Dresdent at any moment, and that character would no longer meet the criteria to establish your activity, rendering you and James immediately ineligible to continue running.

As discussed with my FCOMM, I… as Jerome was stepping down… and that Calvin would be remaining on the ship for the time begin as he was heavily involved in the storyline of the ship. If current placement is a concern, I have multiple offers currently to join other ships and I would be happy to accept any by the end of the day.

My question is: What is your plan to prevent that from happening?

1. Doing work as President requires just as much, or possibly more, time as being a CO of a ship. I think that is especially true with your platform which would require major rule changes to be written up and discussed. The legislative process in this club is a tedious activity that is dramatically less fun than being a ship CO, and can take up a lot more time than normal roleplaying activity.

My question is: If you don’t have time to be a CO because changes in your real life mean that you cannot write one in-character post every three days, how are you going to have time to implement the platform you just proposed?

Actually, I chose to step down to focus on other projects… including running for and serving as President of STF and my novel. I felt that it was a good time for a change and didn’t feel it necessary to tip my hat early to my intention to run. Venom can be harsh in club politics (I haven’t the foggiest clue as to why) and I didn’t think it needed anymore time to get started.
