Question in general. As there is always calls for change or things people around the club don’t like is you are successful in this election how will you ensure that suggestions as to this change or rectifying this dislike are heard.

Specifically what will you do and how will you ensure it is different than current practice?

I’m not 100% sure I understand the question. However let me answer it in the way I think you mean. Your asking how we will handle suggestions for change or suggestions in general?

Well as far as being heard our doors are always open. You can find Tony on Discord a lot more than myself but I am trying to be there more these days. Our emails and other ways to contact us. Command is there for people who want to post something as well. We will enforce the rules in Command as to respectful communication to keep that open as a way to communicate likes and dislikes. We will encourage our cabinet to keep lines of communication open as well so you can reach out to the Fcomms, Directors etc…Some entities like TECH have their own mechanisms for reaching them so we will respect those systems as well. We will encourage more use of the Fleet Boards because I can see those as a way to hammer out ideas, likes or dislikes to things when maybe its not ready to go to command or the problems are centered more so on a ship or fleet. Of course your CO’s are a great place to go to as well. There are also clear mechanisms in our rules for presenting suggestions and they are not that hard to follow. We will obviously direct anyone to those rules who just want to do that and don’t need our help. keeping in mind sometimes a desired change by one person does not follow the will of the Club. If that is the case then we as members have to accept that. The important thing is creating an atmosphere where it is ok to make your suggestion, debate its merits and let see where it goes. I’m not big on referendums. I do not see myself calling on them for every debate about a change that comes up. If you have an idea you like then its part of your responsibility to communicate it to others if you feel it is not reaching enough people on Command etc..If it fits in with the club wishes and is doable as for TOS etc..then we can see. I’m surely open to new ideas but your also electing me to do whats best for the Club so as such that is always my guiding factor.

Overall we have a system of airing disputes and dislikes in STF that has been shown to work. No dispute mechanism will be perfect because were talking about two sides who are not agreeing. So we’re not looking to modify existing systems. I would like to try every 2 months are so a drop box where people can put suggestions into it and really be anonymous. No personal complaints mind you but ones that they might not want to bring into Command. We can then present those that are within the criteria on Command as the Suggestion Box and then get feedback on it. Personally I prefer we use the other modes of communication first but this could be an idea for those who feel they cannot for one reason or the other contact someone or go to Command. We would have to really get some feedback on this idea from the club to avoid pitfalls.
