I would like to pose a question to my fellow candidates (I’ll answer this too)

I am a big believer in that while success is all well and good that some of the biggest and best lessons in life are learnt by failure.

Seeing as how we are seeking the highest position of leadership in stf I would like you to recount your greatest or most memorable failure within that area in stf and what you learnt from the experience.

So my most memorable failure was when I first became an afcomm and I wanted to bring a total new energy and vibe to my fleet and do all this cool stuff. And I was like yeah and we’re going to all this awesome stuff and this is how were going to split the work up. Of course it all fell flat on its face. All off-the-wall captains told me exactly what they thought of all that by just ignoring me which I didn’t take too well at the time.

What I learnt from that was quite a few things. 1 shiny paper hats mean diddly without support and new ideas can only work if the people who are getting them want them. That you have to be prepared to do the work yourself for much of the initial charge and only then if your lucky will you get people onboard to start helping you out.
