I know this election is about done but I do want to ask something. This has been brought up and both campaigns seem to have some alignment on the issue by reply or lack of one on it.

Why do you think or do not think active campaigning is good for an election?

By this I mean reaching out to people and making that personal contact. Explaining more about who you are, where you want to go and asking for their support. No promises or threats etc..Just good old fashioned campaigning. I mean for me this helps me know someone is not just going through the motions. This means something to them. I saw a much earlier discourse where it was presented in a negative light. I just want to know you all’s thinking on this point because to me it matters.

Sidney, that is a great question. I will not speak for David on this matter, but only for myself.

To be honest, I got the impression, slight as it may be, that active campaigning is a bit discouraged overall. Not that anyone ever came right out and said “Don’t do it.”; but it seemed to me, and again this is only my opinion, that doing so would be viewed as a bit unwelcome or overzealous. The last thing we wanted to do in this election is make anyone feel as if David and I were being heavy-handed in out attempt to become the next Administration leaders. So I chose to respond to posted questions when asked, encourage additional requests for clarification if necessary, and have private discussions as people came to me and instigated the conversations. Now, my perception may have been in error, but that was the reason I didn’t take a more ‘proactive’ approach to the campaign… as much as I would have liked to.
