STF Bio Krystelle Knight

I first joined STF in late 1998 after discovering it on the web while searching for a Star Trek club. I was looking for a bulletin board–based role-playing group that emphasized creative writing — and I found exactly that, and much more.

Since those early days, I have had the privilege of serving STF through many of its evolutions and platforms. It has been an honour to be part of a club that continues to grow and adapt. Along the way, I have made lifelong friends and learned a great deal about leadership, writing, and community.

My first step into STF leadership came in 1999, when I joined the New Member Council Board as Acting Chairman. The following year, I ran my first campaign for Vice President alongside Nicole Burchett. From there, I went on to serve in many roles over the years — including ElectionCoordinator(twice), Fleet Commander, Egotist, Personnel Director, Engineering Director, Vice President, and Game Master Director (both for two terms).

In addition to my administrative work, I have spent many years in the heart of STF’s creative side — on board ship in the role-playing arena — serving as CO, XO, and GM. My longest-standing commands were aboard the Bonaventure and the Valkyrie. Role-play has always been my central passion: fostering a healthy, engaging environment both on individual ships and across the club.

There have been times when life has required me to step away — due to family matters, returning to college, and when starting my business — but I have always found my way back. STF has been a creative home and a family to me, and it continues to draw me in through both the storytelling and the people who make it special.

Over the years, I have watched STF evolve from a small BBS community into a sophisticated organization with bylaws, departments, and a living political structure.

Through it all, my dedication to this club has been steadfast. I want to continue contributing to its future — to help it thrive and adapt for the next generation of writers.

I believe this style of collaborative, writing-based role-play is rare — and increasingly at risk in an era dominated by visual simming and gaming. The art of writing and storytelling must be preserved, and that requires dedicated, experienced people willing to do the behind-the-scenes work that keeps our creative community strong. I am proud to be among those who are committed to that mission and to the continued success of STF.
