I, too, have a few specific questions, bouncing off of a couple of the posts the past couple days:

Regarding cross-club collaboration, specifically in storytelling - are things like multi-ship sims, or an Officers’ Ball, or other ideas of that nature something that you would like to encourage in the coming term? Personally, at least in concept, I love that idea, and would love to hear more on that subject.

I will let Steve answer in more detail, as he was the one who came up with the idea, but I just wanted to say that I love the idea of getting characters and members together from across multiple ships.

I also conceptually like the idea of Task Forces, and in theory think it’s a good, novel solution to the problem of unfinished, insurmountable projects. My questions on those, recognizing that you may not yet have figured out the answers to them, are:

• What would representation from the various departments / teams look like? Is that something (using my own Dept as an example) where the PDir or the (or a, if multiple) APdir would join the TF, depending on who has the most free time? Or would it most usually be the most senior member of each department or fleet?

Good question! I would like the departments and fleets to work out who the best person is, without defaulting to seniority. As you say, a more ‘junior’ member of each department or fleet might have more time, or they may have more interest and ideas on the particular topic. It is also how we can empower more of our members, and develop our future leaders.

• Would there necessarily be an established process for determining the project lead, or would it just be whoever wanted to do it?

I expect the President would ask for applications, and then make a decision on who they feel is the most appropriate person to lead it, taking into account their knowledge but also their passion and drive.

• Could you expand a bit on “any residual work being conducted by the relevant government teams”? Is that mostly just referring to polish, troubleshooting, and maintenance?

Exactly that - basically where we get to the point of it not needing a TF because implementation is complete and it’s just a case of maintenance.

Just to be clear, I’m not saying any of the options are necessarily better, just trying to get a better idea of what this system might look like!

That’s absolutely fine! It’s these discussions that will be really important in refining an idea into something that is workable. We each have a different view on what will and won’t work, and so fusing those together will yield better concepts that last longer.
