Our rate of gain of new members is low, and among them the rate of attrition is high. Early in the term, I would like to get a few different departments involved in a major project; gaining and retaining members.

I’d like to ask the CMM to look at our existing presence on social media and the internet at large, and if at all possible make us easier to find. I am positive there are people interested in play by post and Star Trek role play. And we have that built and ready for them, so long as they can find it.

At the level of the PDept, I’d like to look at how new people are greeted and how we’re going about placing them. The PDept do great work handling new players, but if the standard greeting materials need updating, or they need anything to make their operations easier, I’d like to get that done.

At the Academy level, I’d like to look at how the Challenger is doing, as well as see if we can get those people who never start posting or stop posting very quickly to give it a longer try.

And for those who enter the Main Fleet, I would like to make having a mentor mandatory. They don’t have to make use of the resource, but I would rather they have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.

On some level, I need the Commandant, Personnel Director, and CMM to know what to do here. But if we don’t try, things will stay exactly as they are. If we all work together, we can retain more new players.
