Question for the Candidates - Matt & D - list of goals
Hi Matt and D,
In Matt’s overview campaign post, he identified the list of goals for his presidency:
So the goals of my presidency if elected would be
Governmental reform - slimming down a bloated beaurecracy by innovating, optimising and streamlining various roles to eliminate others.
Content Utilisation - We have a rich rich history, packed with content in our sim archives, the reference and technical manuals as well as the instructional material in the academy. We have to take that content off the dusty shelves and reintroduce it back into practical everyday usage.
A Complete overhaul of the new member experience
Overhauling key practices to introduce motivation for RP excellence
Introduce self and assisted skills development programs
Others have asked questions about some of these items, and I understand you will be expanding on these in other posts. However, my question comes from what is not listed there.
One of the ideas that was discussed this past term was to really strengthen and support the community aspect of the club, with more organized events, activities, etc., as it was felt this would have a strong impact on both retention and making the club seem more interesting and engaging to prospective members. Ultimately, the path chosen was to increase the role and duties of MAC. MAC was going to work with those new duties for approximately three months and then report back to see what the next steps are. That reporting back would take us into the next term. Already, we have seen some impact from these changes. Members who we have not seen in a long time (sometimes over a decade) are back and playing characters. There’s a been an increase of new membership applications. All good things that I would expect the next President would want to follow up on.
My question, therefore, is given that MAC’s report on this will be coming back early in the next term, and there will need to be follow-up on it, why wasn’t it listed as a goal or specific area of interest for your planned presidential term?
