Voting is going to start soon. Steve and I would like your vote, and would also appreciate your endorsement if you think we’ve earned it and are so inclined.

This is a brief summary of what we have promised to do if elected:

• We are committed to realigning the membership around a shared understanding of how the club works, so it is easier for us to make changes together. We intend to do that by having inclusive conversations on the Command Ship on different topics, with one new topic discussed every week.
• We are going to restructure the organization, so that it more correctly reflects what we want to spend our time doing, and supports us in doing that. We intend to do that by making extra effort to find people willing to volunteer to help the club, to ask those people for help in ways which do not discourage them with big hefty requirements, and to change the club so we stop asking people to do things they don’t want to do.
• We are going to reassess the situation monthly, so that we can tell if any of the changes we make are working or not. We will do that by asking you all in Command monthly “What’s working” “What’s not working” and “What should we change”, with the intent of making a continuous stream of many small improvements that are likely to succeed, rather than a handful of big-bang changes that are likely to fail.

These ideas are all rather simple, but form what Steve and I consider to be a roadmap to renewal, by which we can lead the club out of its current darkness, and provide it a foundation for those that come after us to continue building upon.
