Okay, so we’re not only talking about cabinet appointments, we’re talking about CO appointments as well. As I already established, every single President since I joined this club has included at least one person in their cabinet that a previous President didn’t. As for CO appointments, the last time we had a President who did not appoint a first-time CO it was James Sinclair when he served in 2019, and James only had a partial term he spent as President to work with.

So, every recent President has appointed not only at least one new cabinet member, but also at least one brand new CO. Did the President in your example appoint several brand new CO’s during the term in question and also have a lengthy history of mentoring less experienced members? I believe that is likely the case. If so, wouldn’t that be evidence that the President in the example did not tend to play favorites and cater to allies?

To answer your question about the President in my example? No they did not appoint several new CO’s during their term nor did they have always mentor people to the level I felt they could have when in the roles that provided such (Academy CO/XO/DH, or being a CO/XO/DH on a ship in this case).

I am sorry you are confused, but I did not wish to call out names of the person in question as I would feel that doing so would be far more rude and an attack on them. What was trying to say is that the person in question even when not a president, did very little in my view to train or mentor others when they could have had the opportunity too. Does that help some?

Hi, just wanted to make a small point here. I am not trying to be rude or offensive… However, it strikes me that if we as a club are going to actually solve some of these issues, it’s going to take a long hard look at who has done what, both in the past and presently. As well as looking at our own failings and those of others. Not in the sense of putting others down for making mistakes, but in the sense that we need to hold each other accountable as well as teach each other how to get things done.

I’m not saying call out others all the time, but if we’re going to fix things, every member needs to take responsibility for their own mistakes and shortcomings, at the very least. This, to me, means putting the good of the club over our own egos. I’ll be the first to admit that I’ve, personally, had a lot of trouble sticking to my principles and following through with things. I think we all need to be brutally honest and start working together toward a goal here.

This doesn’t have to be a painful experience, we just need to push through the hard part to get there. When we try not to offend, we often cause confusion.

In the spirit of moving forward cordially, would you still not clarify about who this was and what you think they did wrong? Otherwise, why bring it up?
