Some questions for Matt and D to kick us off. I’ll quote some text from your opening post. Both of us are in this election for one reason and one reason only. We have, over the last decade seen the slow and steady trend of leadership that is/was/has been unwilling or unable to see to the necessary changes the club needs to become the success it once was, with a steadily growing membership and long term retention.
Has long term retention ever been different than it is now? If so, what evidence is there of that?
In short we are here because we are sick and tired of watching the club lurch about in crisis mode a great deal of the time because it operates using outdated and in some cases the most inefficient methods possible. We currently have approximately 30 government positions (not including Mentors) to administrate a population of 90. That’s a government position for every 3 people in the club. I realise this is a volunteer ONLINE organisation, but this is totally out of proportion to what’s necessary.
You’re launching some new things that will take work it sounds like. How are you planning on getting more work done, having less people do it, and having those doing the work feel like it is better at the same time?
We’re running because we believe we have ideas that would make some serious changes to improve club efficiency, satisfaction and some good old fashion fun. If some changes aren’t made, then we may as well all just pack up and call it a day because numbers and enjoyment will continue to fall off.
Has enjoyment been falling off? What evidence is there of this?

Adam excellent questions. Without fobbing you off I will present the detailed posts about each policy with historical and statistical data supporting why we’ve come to that view point in separate single topic posts. But to briefly answer your questions.
Yes retention has changed both up and down over time. However evidence without experience is notedly short. EffWebb was notoriously short on statistics and metrics it keep at best a rudimentary population count from year to year and was more focused on positions than people. WebbSpace kept much more detailed metrics about population trends as well as some statistical analysis about retention that I’ve also conducted myself.
About workload well once again details are forthcoming but by automating and optimising workflow you cut down workload. Leaving less burden overall and more energy for other tasks.
Also I am no stranger to content creation, amendment and collaboration having written a academy course and revised the gmt course and exam with krys which is under review by gmd.
As for evidence of fun decreasing I would say no direct verifiable evidence but experience tells me that there is a fun/hassle break point. Even if I’m wildly wrong there is no downside from a institutional perspective to skills development and deepening player engagement and satisfaction. More engaged rpers are more satisfied and more likely to keep coming back.
On again brief answers Adam I will be posting detailed single topic posts for your discernment. :)

Can I just say that I am impressed by how you had all your ducks in a row ahead of everyone else? I have seen a number of elections and I don’t think I can recall anyone being this fast lol. I won’t be poking and asking questions till I see more content from you, but I expect excellence like usual. Do you still have all that information saved from when you went digging around for all that population stuff and whatnot? You did a lot of work on that and I forgot then to ask to see it, hopefully I have that chance now.
Scarlet
Short answer yes :-)
