Specification Review: Baker-Class Heavy Observer (Support), Draft 3 - REVIEW OPEN Until June 1, 2020

I really like this setup, it’s great from an rp perspective. The kind of science-workhorse nature to it means I’d be very tempted to use them as science vessels being encountered in sims.
== Thanks! Thats the idea!

Phaser Systems
The Baker uses eight Type-7 paired phaser banks. They are positioned as follows:
One pair of banks ventral and dorsal on the forward sections of the primary hull with two emitters each.
One pair of banks ventral and dorsal arranged to port and starboard on the primary hull with two emitters each.
One pair of banks ventral and dorsal positioned on the central aft area of the secondary hull with two emitters each.Minor thing here, but while there’s eight paired phaser banks we only have locations for six of them, perhaps one of these facings should get two pairs of banks?
Each bank has a maximum energy output of 1.3 megawatts out to 75,000 kilometers.
== Good catch I missed this! I’ll edit it for the next draft
Torpedo Systems
The Baker is armed with two Type-3 dual fire torpedo launchers; each launcher is capable of firing up to 2 torpedoes every 4 seconds. Each launcher is positioned with one forward and one aft on deck 14 and 15 within the secondary hull.
The ship carries 50 casings: 20 of these are for photon torpedoes, a further 25 are for specialized Class 1-9 scientific probes with 5 casings always kept on hand as empty for special mission need modifications. They have a maximum effective range of 3,500,000 km.
I really like the very low torp count use here. This kind of limitation for rp would appeal to me as a gm or a player/captain.
==As a gm great! Again its the point :)

Science Labs
Located on decks 4 through 9 within the secondary hull are the Baker’s expansive science labs. They are divided into the following deck by deck sections:
Deck 4 contains the class’ hydroponic, botany, and agronomy labs.
Deck 5 contains the class’ zoology, genetics, anatomy and physiology labs.
Deck 6 contains the class’ chemistry, physics, and general science lab. The chief science officer’s office can also be found next to the general science lab on this deck.
Deck 7 contains the class’ astrophysics, astronomy, cosmology and the upper portions of the stellar cartography lab.
Deck 8 contains the class’ geology, hydrology, volcanology, meteorology and the lower support portions of the stellar cartography lab.
Deck 9 contains the class’ cybernetic, temporal mechanics, computer science research, and robotics labs.Each deck contains only 1 type of each lab listed. Further, each deck’s labs are joined, both by hallway access and inter-lab access allowing easier movement of staff and experiments as needed.
I really love there being only one of each of those types of labs listed for each deck, I think there’s a lot of flavor that could be put into any ships using the design.
== Sadly it wont be used for roleplaying areas as its only for npc support use as Nick mentioned, though I have used a similar template setup for the Independence as I liked its layout
I notice below that Sickbay is located on Deck 10 - one thought that occurs to me is that it may be worth considering switching the science lab types of Decks 5 and 9? It might make sense from an rp/design perspective to have one of either the zoology, genetics, anatomy or physiology lab with easy access to Sickbay so they can share some resources.
== I can do that!

Holosuites
The Baker houses 2 holosuites located next to each other on the starboard side of deck 6 in the primary hull. Though somewhat limited in their display abilities compared to full holodecks, the smaller holosuites were selected due to their lesser power demands.
I like this limitation, feels appropriate for the type of ship.
== Thanks! Its meant to reflect its aged nature

I love this design! Science missions really appeal to me so I’d be attracted to this kind of ship either as a player or gamemaster, I think a lot of the details here set it apart from other ships from an rp perspective, even other science oriented ships in use. Please note I haven’t read previous drafts, I apologize if something I’ve said has already been brought up

== Thanks for your review Kevin!
