SCIENCE AND REMOTE SENSING SYSTEMS

-COMPUTER SYSTEMS

=== No issues here for me, though as a side note love the inclusion of the AI from the Memorial :) good to see other ideas put to use

-SENSOR MASKING AND MISDIRECTION ALGORITHMS

The Brazen class also includes efforts made by Starfleet Intelligence to give the ship some combat stealth and misdirection capability. It includes pre-written programs within the computer to initiate sensor ghosting, false sensor signals, and targeting disruption algorithms run by the ENINTADI Al system. While not perfectly effective, this solution does provide increased efforts of disguise over more general starships using such decoys.

=== So just a thought, could this be expanded into a full custom tech submission for other designers to use in the future? I think it’d be a good idea to follow up on maybe, just a thought not a problem as it is now in the spec here

-HOLOGRAPHIC SYSYEMS

This ship is equipped with an EMH Mark IV. Holo emitters are located within all critical parts of the ship, with access to the bridge, engineering, the science lab, all cargo bays, sickbay, and corridors.

=== What no SWEDE upgrade ? :P otherwise no problems here

-MAIN ENGINEERING

=== No issues here for me

-MACHINE SHOP

The machine shop is located on deck 5, the bottom level of Engineering. This allows a starship to make any parts that they need, without going to a starbase.

=== No nitpick here I would say is that given the machine shop on a Brazen would be much smaller then say one on the Pendragon, Memorial or Mythology classes maybe reinforce that with a line here about limiting productions of parts to sized for the room or something?

-SECURITY STATION AND DETENTION CELLS

=== No issues here for me

-ARMORY

The ship’s armory is located within the Security Center. The armory is equipped with 75 handheld type 2 phasers and 25 type 3 phaser rifles. The Brazen is also equipped with 5 PSP-1s, 3 Sentry guns, and 10 WTR-600s which could be used in lieu of tricorders.

=== Nice! Love the inclusion of our STF custom tech, kudos!

-INTELLIGENCE OFFICE

The Brazen has a dedicated Intel office on Deck 4, located next to the Security Office and detention cells. The office contains uplinks to ship sensors and has access to Starfleet Intelligence reports, which can only be accessed by an assigned Intel Officer or someone with a Level 10 security clearance.

=== So just a thought on this. Level 10 security clearance is obviously for someone/character who is a Captain rank or above. So if a Intel officer is on a ship like this, would it make any sense why say a DH level intel officer (probably in rank around Lt say) has the same clearance as the Captain who isnt an intel officer? This is one thing Ive struggled with as a GM and with other players who play intel oriented officers. As a GM my general rule of thumb is if the Captain or higher is level 10, then an intel officer of say rank of Lt has a clearance of say 8 or something, this way the CO’s status stays relevant and the intel person isnt the know all of all things. Does that make sense?

-GENERAL SCIENCE LABORATORY

UTILITY SYSTEMS

-CARGO BAYS

With external bay doors the ship’s three cargo bays are equipped with two small cargo transporters (Cargo Bay A and C). The crew can also turn one of the Cargo bays into a Triage center or a larger science lab. Each cargo bay’s upper level is located on deck 2 and its lower level is on deck 3. Due to the nature of some of its missions, the Brazen Class starship can operate for 18 months without being resupplied.

=== So just to clarify the ship has three cargo bays, ok I got that, and only two of those got a cargo transporter, again got that, but to clarify do all three bays also got external door access?

-TRACTOR BEAM SYSTEMS

The ship has a tractor beam emitter located dorsal aft on deck 2, with a range of 25,000 km, while the main emitter is located on the bottom or ventral aft of the ship, with a range of 45,000km.

=== Ok the wording here seems a bit clunky to me, the way it begins is that there is only 1 emitter on the ship, but then it goes on to describe a second. Perhaps rewording this section to something like ‘The ship has two tractor emitters, one located on the dorsal aft section of deck 2, with a range of 25,000km. The second emitter is located on the ventral aft section of the ship on X deck, with a range of 45,000 km’ ?

=== Also just curious how come one emitter has less range then the other?

-TRANSPORTER SYSTEMS

CREW SUPPORT SYSTEMS

-SICKBAY

-COUNSELOR’S OFFICE

===No issues here for me

-ENLISTED QUARTERS

The Enlisted quarters are on deck 3. Due to the small structure of the ship, the crew quarters are each 35 square meters. Each room houses four enlisted crew. Each quarter has two bunk beds, one on each of the port and starboard walls, with a table and two chairs in the center. A washroom is shared between two quarters of eight people. The washroom contains four sonic shower stalls, four water toilet stalls, and two sinks.

=== Honestly this is cool to see the bunk up on a small ship, I hope CO’s who use this spec now or in the future point this out to players :P Sadly I’ve seen some players ignore the small nature of a ship spec or in the opposite the more larger/plush nature

-JUNIOR OFFICER’S QUARTERS

The Junior Officers’ quarters are on deck 4 and are 30 square meters. The quarters contain one twin sized bed to the starboard side of the room. The room also contains a desk with two chairs, plus a console that allows access to the ship’s database.

Washrooms are shared between every three quarters, or three people. They contain three sonic showers, three toilet stalls and two sinks.

=== Again totally loving this I really hope it gets pushed for writing consistency!

-DEPARTMENT HEAD’S QUARTERS

There are four Senior Officers’ Quarters located on Deck 5, and a further four are located on Deck 3. These 35 square meter rooms include a single full-size bed, with a work desk that includes computer access to the ship’s database, and two chairs. Two quarters or two people would share a washroom. These washrooms have one sonic shower, two toilet stalls, and one sink.

=== Ok wait a second, the way this line begins says there are 4 quarters on deck 5 and four more on deck 3. So just going with the idea of the core DH’s assigned to a ship like this would be, CNS/CE/CSO/CMO/COS/CIO that’s only 7 quarters, you could throw in a CTO for giggles which put it to 8. Is this what the idea was to go with?

-CO AND XO QUARTERS

=== No issues here for me

-V.I.P QUARTERS

=== No issues here for me

-MESS HALL

The mess hall on deck 5 is where the crew eats and entertains themselves. Five replicators line the walls, while 8 small tables, with 3 chairs per table, are scattered in the front, while 3 lounge chairs and a couch surrounded a low table in the back. Under the table are numerous board games that could be played as entertainment. Because there aren’t any windows in the mess hall, several LCARS displays are used to provide entertainment for those who occupy the room.

=== Ok so five replicators? Thats alot for a ship this size! To put it in comparison to the defiant (which is basically what the avenger and brazen are akin too) if I recall on screen, there was only 1 or 2 there, also for comparison a much larger ship like voyager had only 2 as seen on screen, and event he big ole Ent-D galaxy class had only 1 maybe 2 replicators seen in ten-forward!

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS

-DIMENSIONS and STRUCTURE

Length: 187 meters
Beam (width): 147 meters
Height: 46 meters
Decks: 7

=== Ok so just an observation here, usually the height is roughly close to the deck count/size, can you clarify what deck height you used? By SSSF the default is about 4.8 though some go smaller a bit and others above it. Right now working the numbers even with a deck height of 5.0 it comes out to only 35 meters high, obviously ship structure also plays into that some, but given this ship is mean to be pretty small like the defiant i kept picturing the corridors being like 4.5-4.8 in height which would put the height around the 31.5 meters to 33.6 meters then give or add some height based on the ship shape. So in short could the designer comment on this for me? Thanks!

-CREW COMPLEMENT

Officers and Crew: 70
Command: 5
Tactical/Security/Intel: 20
Science: 12
Medical: 12
Engineering/Operations: 20
Counseling: 1
Visiting Personnel: 6
Maximum Evacuation Limit: 160

=== So another thing just struck me, which would obviously if included even optionally require a room/section addition above. Is there any thought given to providing bunks/rooms for say a squad of marines?

CO and XO Quarters

=== So just a nitpick for me personally. Does putting the CO/XO quarters almost the entire ship distant from the bridge seem odd or out of place? I find it further odd that the DHs are closer to the bridge in an emergency then the CO/XO. So just a thought, maybe consider moving at least the first two closer to the bridge on the deck plans? Another thought to try for interest, is putting all the DH’s on the decks closest to their offices?

SHIPS OF THE LINE

USS Flagrant, NCC-99195

=== Not a problem, but I’ll be 100% honest, I kept reading this thinking it was Flatulence not Flagrant LOL, my brain as a result kept trying to figure out how that fit the rest of the names/theme LOL

CONCLUSION

=== No issues here for me

=== So there you go Ray! I hope my review and thoughts here helps you out! No big issues to me beyond what I said, and I think with one more draft cycle it should have no problem sailing through to approval
