So it has come up in my experience with the XFleet that the process for decommissioning a vessel needs some adjustment. I propose the following addition to the ‘Decommissioning’ section:

“Ships recieving more than two probation notices in a three month period can, at the discretion of the SOX, be subject to immediate decommissioning.”

The issue this will address is crews being put on probation and posting like crazy long enough to come off of probation, and then falling off and being on probation again… wash, rinse, repeat.

If a ship cant maintain the mandated activity levels for this suggested period of time, it doesnt have the legs to remain healthy consistently.

I’m not opposed to this (though I do see one problem with it that I will address in another post), but I do want to use this thread to propose an alternative that might achieve the same thing: End probation.

“Probation” was something that was added after the initial implementation of X-Fleet, because it used to be that we would cut a ship after 30 days of insufficient activity with no other warning whatsoever. After trying things this way for a few months, people felt that this was too much time for something that had dropped dead to just sit, so we cut that time period down to whatever it is now, and added the “probation” to make it “fair” that it was shorter.

Now that we have the benefit of hindsight, I think it’s fair to say that putting an X-Ship on probation is rarely helpful, in that it tends to provoke a flurry of activity that resolves the probation but usually does not end up resulting in the ship getting better. It just drags things out on the tail end.

So, I’d be OK with just ending probation entirely and replacing it with absolutely nothing.
