Pursuant to the authority vested in the Office of the President, the following directive is hereby issued and takes effect immediately. Following the decision of Captain Lindsay Bayes to step down as Commanding Officer of the USS Ogawa, I, in consultation with the Fleet Council Chairman, do hereby appoint D. Grisham as the Commanding Officer of the USS Ogawa, effective immediately.

The USS Ogawa has long stood as one of Star-Fleet’s premier medical vessels. Commanding such a ship requires more than exceptional leadership—it demands compassion, professionalism, sound judgment, and the unique ability to balance exploration with the humanitarian mission that defines the vessel. It is a command unlike any other within the fleet.

D. Grisham assumes this position knowing there is a formidable legacy to uphold. Captain Bayes has led the Ogawa with distinction, fostering a ship known for its excellence, mentorship, and commitment to the highest ideals of Star-Fleet. Following in those footsteps is no small task.

However, this appointment is made with complete confidence. D. Grisham has previously demonstrated the talent, dedication, and leadership necessary to command a starship successfully. Her past history of serving aboard the USS Ogawa has given her a unique appreciation for the vessel’s mission, culture, and traditions. That firsthand experience, combined with her proven leadership abilities, has prepared her well to assume command. The Ogawa’s role as a dedicated medical vessel requires a special caliber of commanding officer—one capable of balancing exploration, humanitarian response, and medical excellence—and D. Grisham has demonstrated the qualities necessary to carry that proud tradition forward.

On behalf of the Office of the President and the Fleet Council, I extend my sincere congratulations to D. Grisham on this appointment and look forward to seeing the USS Ogawa continue its proud tradition of excellence under her command.
