Fleet Council Overview
Apologies for the delay in getting this out - we’ve had teething issues with both receiving reports and how council officers provide their comments. Overall, ship health is improving since the Christmas dip, but has not yet returned to July levels (which remains the strongest recent month).
The following issues appear across multiple ships in the club:

It’s clear that the demand for crew members is still striping availability across the club, with a number of reports highlighting the need for additional crew. Whilst the reduction in ship numbers has helped, this balance will need to be carefully reviewed until we start to recruit more members.

Linked to the above is the demand and availability of GMs, with only 8 out of 14 ships with GMs.

The Personnel Department has had issues placing new members on ships, due to either ships not accepting new members or not meeting the criteria. Fleet council officers should have spoken with COs about this to remedy this issue.

USS Ark Angel

While a report such as this can only ever be a snapshot of the ship, I think overall that the Ark Angel is a lot better. Given that the command has changed overall since 2 months ago. I am Captain. My XO has been taking some time only because he hasn’t been feeling well. He’s going to start posting again tomorrow. No unauthorized absences. Had some changes over the past week. We have gotten a new GM, Robert Archer, who came back to the ship.
A particularly noteworthy development was the indication that having Robert Archer as the GM would relieve the stress that I was having as Temp GM and CO stuff all at once, and trying to keep the Main Sim we were having going. Otherwise, now that we have Robert Archer back, having that GM position filled, I can concentrate on running the ship and making it so that everyone else is able to focus on the new Main Sim.
I don’t have any issues with the ship, though we are always recruiting, and should anyone ask about vacancies, please send them directly to me as well.

The Ark Angel is pretty good standing! The crew is posting a lot. And with Rob coming back as GM, I think that helps alleviate some pressure on Chris. Overall the ship has done well for itself!

The Manhattan is moving along quite well. The caliber of writing is impressive and the story lines are very involved. There are only two long term AWOLS, Amdirgol S who is the CSO with a total of 62 days, and Terry Sullivan, CIO with a total of 32 days. Otherwise, everything is in hand.

The Memorial is in a bad way. There are only four of us currently posting. We are without several DH positions and also a CO. As aCO I have brought up the possibility of the Memorial being incorporated into another ship. It’s unfortunate that the Memorial would probably be decomissioned then, but I don’t see a way around it. With the shortage of GMs and other active players who have not overextended themselves, taking our four active posters to another ship just makes more sense than keeping the Memorial going just to fail in the end. We have had these same, or nearly the same issues for 6 months already. I have spoken with those who have been posting and they agree that joining another ship that has an active GM would be best.

As previously announced, the Memorial is being decomissioned.

How is your ship looking overall?
Overall the ship is in good standing! The crew of has their good times and bad times, but we are still going. We are likely to be bringing in a small influx of members from the Memorial which may stirs things up in the melting pot in a good way. I have much higher hopes for the ship than I have in recent times.
What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)
I can’t pinpoint an exact in character moment. But I can pinpoint an OOC event. I managed to touch base with everyone on the crew and set a date for us all to hop on discord. A decent portion of the crew was ablet to make it and we spent time posting back and forth. It was honestly a lot of fun and I think we will be setting dates again like this in the future. Obviously not everyone can commit to such a thing very often, but we will see what we can manage. We got posts up and moving, which has the potential to build momentum for others as well. With us adding more crew, I’m willing to wager this can even greater in the future.
Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month:
Getting everyone posting and somewhere in the sim is essential at this point. And things ARE moving along. So I have high hopes for the ship.

The Athena has a lot going for it. There are a plethora of impressive writers in the crew. Side sims are going at full tilt while the main sim moves along a little slower. If you look at the Master Roster, it appears that the entire crew are AWOL, but with the merge of the Memorial and the Athena, this is understandable. In truth, there are only two long term AWOLS, Hjortur Ingi, CMO is 25 days out and James Sinclair, CE is 23 days out.

How is your ship looking overall?
Overall we are improving. I’ve got a new XO and we are starting to see some improvement over last month already. I have one minor hiccup in that unfortunately Krys has had to resign as CSO, but we’ll work on getting that vacancy filled this coming month and I think the addition of some new players (Scott Kafader as XO and Jeremy Harris just joined us as a security JO) has injected some new excitement into the ship.

The Chimera is improving having gone through a bit of a rough patch, and the new XO (Scott Kafader) is excelling in his new role - definitely one to watch for future CO opportunities.

How is your ship looking overall?
Not Great overall, the ship was in very bad shape when I took over, There is a active tendency by most the Current DH’s to go AWOL, as well as my XO. I have sent email asking them to step aside if they can not stay active within posted AWOL policy. I give some space for a few days. The issue being, if they step down can I find replacements. If not then we’ll see I may recommend that it be closed down if there is not sufficient interest in the play style of the ship.
I did update the MOTD to a new format last month that was something positive

How is your ship looking overall?
We are slow but hanging in there. We have a new crew member, but are still short a CSO. Still waiting to hear about another crew member’s status so I can plan accordingly. for the main sim. The sim is moving along, if slowly. But we have gotten to the point where the away team’s shuttle has reached the Celestial Whisper and is about to learn about the plague they are dealing with. Once we can start ferrying patients back to the Ogawa, the rest of the crew will have more to do. Until then, people are waiting and trying to keep active where they can.
What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)
It’s been slow, but really enjoying Ryan’s new trauma medic/security officer character. It’s fun getting to know him.
Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month:
I would love to get a CSO who is motivated to be there, and I would love us to have made significant progress in the main sim. How likely that is yet, I can’t say, but I want to try.

Looking alright. A little too quiet for my tastes, but we keep plodding along. We have a new XO (William Archer, played by Jack D) replacing Trin who had to resign for IRL reasons.

USS Chernov — Monthly GM Report
Mission Status Overview
The USS Chernov remains on station within the anomalous rift region encountered during Operation Luminous Verge. What initially appeared to be environmental instability has now revealed itself as a layered, reactive system—one that subtly responds to the ship’s presence and actions.
Scientific probes deployed ahead of the vessel indicate overlapping subspace layers that form transient zones of relative calm and violent interference. Chroniton traces, gravimetric distortion, exotic particle surges, and a persistent subspace resonance have all been observed. The resonance, in particular, mirrors fluctuations against the ship’s shields, reinforcing the conclusion that this is not a passive environment.
The ship remains secure.
The shields continue to hold.
However, prolonged exposure without adaptive measures is no longer considered sustainable.
Command & Bridge
Command has set a deliberate and measured tone, prioritizing crew safety while allowing for controlled experimentation. Rather than forcing progress, the bridge has focused on understanding the rift’s behavior through action-and-response observation.
The authorization to:
- Continuously cycle shield harmonics
- Cross-phase shields with the structural integrity field
- Vent tachyon buildup through the deflector in controlled pulses
marked a clear shift from static defense to adaptive engagement. Coordination across departments has been disciplined and effective, with clear tasking and steady oversight.
Science & Helm
Science has driven the mission forward this month by reframing the anomaly as a structured phenomenon rather than chaotic interference. Probe data analysis revealed repeating patterns and emergent “corridors” of relative stability—natural pathways shaped by energy density rather than physical mass.
Helm and Science cooperation has translated these findings into early navigation concepts, suggesting that the rift may be traversable by riding these currents instead of resisting them. This remains theoretical, but marks the first credible path toward controlled movement within the region.
Engineering
Engineering has operated under sustained strain as systems respond unevenly to harmonic feedback and exotic energy exposure. Rather than pursuing raw reinforcement, Engineering efforts have focused on system balance and endurance, ensuring no single component bears excessive stress.
Recent stabilization efforts have reduced uneven shield degradation, smoothed power draw, and limited hull stress. These measures have been essential in keeping the ship operational long enough for deeper analysis to occur.
Medical & Crew Welfare
Sickbay has transitioned from monitoring acute anomalies to addressing cumulative exposure risks. Medical systems are now tied directly into probe and sensor feeds, providing early warning for changes in radiation levels, exotic particles, and neurological or sensory effects.
This integration ensures that crew health remains a priority as the ship continues operations within a reactive environment.

Over all the sentinel is doing well. Ryan has settled in as the new XO, and James will be taking over as GM once we finish out our sim. The sim is moving along. Everyone is engaged.

The Sentinel only has a roster of seven different players, but some are holding down more than one spot. In reading through the ship, it looks like all hands are involved in posting. I came across a murder that feels very much like an episode of CSI and it is all very intriguing. The only person with a long standing AWOL is Hjortur Ingi with an absence of 22 days. There might be an issue with him since he is also AWOL on the Athena for approximately the same amount.

While a report such as this can only ever be a snapshot of the ship, I think that overall, the Merrimack is doing well with strong participation and no unauthorised absences. Everyone is contributing within expectations, though new crew members may need some additional support. There are four active side-Sims alongside the main Bridge thread.
A particularly noteworthy development was the innovative use of ejected rubbish to map gravitational field lines. This method, introduced by our XO, will provide valuable data that will enhance our navigation accuracy as we approach the complex and unpredictable conditions found in the Expanse region.

The month of January came in very well and only got stronger. Our sim is on a steady course with regular posting by all . Overall we’ve had a lot of good and ingenious writing in the face of yet another one of Krystelle Knights evil genius Sims.

Area of Operations: Caradthian Expanse / Vey’lan Aperture Periphery
Over the past month, the USS Merrimack has continued its cautious advance into the Caradthian Expanse, operating at the edge of reliable Federation charts and established scientific understanding. The region remains unstable, with layered gravitational effects, subspace interference, and background energy phenomena that challenge both navigation and long-term systems stability.
Operational Status
The ship is currently holding position short of the Vey’lan Aperture, conducting extended scans and controlled testing rather than committing to direct transit. This deliberate pace reflects Command’s assessment that the Expanse rewards patience and preparation more than speed.
Key Developments
Gravitational & Navigational Research:
The crew has begun experimental methods to better understand the structure of the gravitational waves permeating the region. Initial testing—using jettisoned inert matter as visual and sensor tracers—has confirmed that the Expanse contains layered, moving distortions rather than a single uniform field. These findings suggest that “safe corridors” may exist but require precise timing and modeling to exploit.
Engineering & Systems Stress:
Engineering reports indicate sustained low-level harmonic bleed across multiple systems. While not immediately dangerous, this has required active monitoring, power balancing, and reinforcement of key components. The ship is holding together well, but the Expanse is clearly exerting constant pressure on her systems.
Medical & Crew Readiness:
Sickbay continues to monitor crew exposure to radiation, subspace effects, and prolonged stress. No critical conditions have emerged, though mild fatigue and sensory strain have been noted—consistent with extended operations in anomalous regions.
Security & Situational Awareness:
No confirmed hostile contacts have been detected. However, sensor noise, intermittent signal echoes, and the sheer unpredictability of the Expanse have kept Security at an elevated readiness posture. The absence of threats is not being interpreted as safety—only uncertainty.
Command Assessment
The Merrimack is firmly in an investigation and preparation phase. The Expanse is proving complex but not insurmountable, and the crew’s ingenuity is beginning to turn unknowns into usable data. Command decisions over the next month will likely hinge on whether current research can produce a reliable navigation model—or whether further risk is justified to gain deeper insight.
Command Assessment:
The Merrimack is firmly in a reconnaissance and preparation posture. The Expanse is yielding usable data, but progress favors caution over speed. Command decisions moving forward will center on how much risk to accept in exchange for clearer navigational solutions and deeper insight into the Vey’lan Aperture.
The situation remains unresolved and fluid. The ship is learning—but the Expanse is not finished revealing itself.
GM Musings
The sim was slow to gain momentum over the month but I’d like to highlight XO Lieutenant Commander Rana Singh (Number One) for his idea of jettisoning garbage to map the Expanse! It was an unorthodox solution that as a GM I love! It is what Star Trek is about:)
I’d like to also highlight Lieutenant Thalos ch’Ravik (Chief Of Security), Lieutenant Junior Grade Stella Gagnon (Communications Officer), Thalos for his excellent portrayal of an Andorian Security Chief and his well thought out posts and Stella for her enthusiasm for gathering and tossing out the garbage! Last but not least, our talented Lieutenant Elyss Zavey (Chief Science Officer) has been instrumental in mapping the Expanse so far. I very much enjoy RPing with each every member of the Merrimack’s crew. They are a joy to GM for.

How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims? Are all departments with leaders active? Are Sims engaging both Fleet and Civilian officials? Are non-governmental characters included and engaged?
Currently we have no Starfleet DHs, so it’s just me playing the Starfleet CO (which is fine). The other areas that currently have leaders of a colonial department are mixed as to how active they are, but we’re have AWOLs and LOAs lately, so things are slower in general. Right now all the bigger PRSIMs are moving slow but they involve a variety of people from different areas of the colonies, which is exactly what we want. One PRISM (our murder mystery) is getting closer to solving the mystery, and the other one involving the Starfleet CO’s long lost sister is still at an early point and will involve more people soon.
How are the JOs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims? Do all characters show development and growth? Are all members active with other players?
I think this is true for some characters, but overall, things are slow and there are too few people consistently active to help each other make any significant character development or growth. That’s not necessarily a bad thing- posting can be cyclical- but if it continues too long it makes it harder to entice people to stay and commit to Oed. We have and are reinforcing the point that if you are on the roster, you have to RP with more than just one person your character is connected to. This requires people to be creative and get their characters out of their typical places/situations. On the other hand, when PRSIMs move slow, it can make it harder to jump outside of that into other things where you don’t yet know the outcome of a major event that impacts your character’s state of being/mind. It’s a standard conundrum we deal with. I’m hoping that as people come off LOAs and are nudged to post, that this will improve. There are also areas where James and I can start stuff that will involve other characters more in general and that will have a trickle down effect. But I would love to see more proactive storylines from other players that involve more players on the roster.
