MONTHLY REPORT - ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT
JANUARY 2020

The holidays meant that no December report was filed, and a few RL issues have gotten in the way of getting this report in on time. This report will cover all of the business from December and January.

SPECIFICATIONS
Nightingale-Class Medical Cruiser Mark I
- The third draft of the Nightingale-class entered review on December 19, 2020
- Joe P provided feedback to which all of the designers responded
- Assistant Engineering Director Russell Watt considered all criticisms and suggested changes from Joe P and determined them to be non-substantive to the spec as a whole
- Contingent upon the completion of changes made to the spec as AEDir Watt stated them, Assistant Engineering Director Russell Watt approved the specification for entry into the Technical Manual on January 9, 2021
- EDept has created a temporary specification page for the Nightingale

Moscow-class Medium Surveyor
- The first draft of the Moscow-class entered review on December 19, 2020
- Joe P provided feedback on the specification, to which Robert Archer replied
- Assistant Engineering Director Russell Watt closed the review on February 10, 2021, a month after it was supposed to have ended, due to department delays

OTHER PROJECTS
- Work has resumed on the new specification creation document. A first draft will hopefully be completed before the end of the current Presidential term
- The STF Academy Commandant has inquired about the creation of an Academy course specifically focused upon specification creation. As of now, only a general outline has been written, as the specification creation document is the primary focus for the EDir at the moment. Sections will be written as time permits.

SIGN-OFF
The Engineering Department has slowed down somewhat, in part due to EDir’s own inactivity. However, EDept is still open for business for anyone who wants to participate.
