Brie joined the French military at the age of 18. Starting her career as an nurse in the French Army. Shortly after becoming a Lt, she was sent to Egypt with her unit to cross train with the Egyptian Army. Stationed in Cairo, she worked at the main medical facility there. During an evening out, she met Jabr Ghassan, an Egyptian officer also stationed in Cairo.
Jabr was a signal officer on the base where Brie was working. The 28 year old officer had been having dinner in the restaurant and saw Brie. After several days of asking around, he learned who she was and where she was working. The normally shy and soft spoken Jabr stepped out of his shell and introduced himself to Brie. Fully expecting her to turn him down, he asked her out for dinner and almost fell over when she said yes. The relationship developed from there.
Two years later, Jabr and Brie married. Brie had discharged from the military to be a full time wife and future mother. She never let her skills lapse, however she did not work outside the home. One year after their marriage, Javan was born. Jabr was elated at having his first born be a son. He and Brie worked hard to provide a comfortable life for the growing family. Yazid followed a year later and then Abia two years after Yazid and finally in 2134, Noelle was born.
Born Christmas morning at 12:00 a.m. Brie insisted on naming her youngest daughter in honor of the holiday. Jabr agreed and although the family practiced Islam, he was enamored with his youngest daughter. A contrast of cultures, she had her mother’s emerald green eyes and her father’s raven black hair and dark olive skin. Even the Imam was touched by her.
A quiet child, Noelle was called “Ghost”. Noelle learned the ability to sneak up on people without being heard and often slipped into a room unnoticed and would leave again the same way. Noelle was an active child with a very close circle of friends. She spent hours with Jabr in his office learning Arabic and French from her mother. None of her sibilings had shown much interest in learning other languages or going much beyond what was expected of them.
As an infant, Noelle never showed any pain. When she was 2, Noelle had fallen while playing and was later found to have several broken bones. She didn’t show any pain, this concerned her parents just a little bit. Later in the summer, it was very hot and Brie noticed that Noelle wasn’t sweating even when she was outside playing. This further caused concern and Brie and Jabr began looking for reasons of causing this.
After several doctors and many tests it was learned that Noelle had Congenital Insensitivity to Pain with Anahidrosis. There was no cure and it was very possible that Noelle would not live past the age of five if they weren’t careful. She did and now has to be aware of how she does things and when she is injured or ill.
Both boys followed in Jabr’s footsteps and joined the Egyptian military and were stationed around the country, coming home when they were given furloughs. Abia remained in the home and met her future husband, settling down in the home next to Brie and Jabr. Noelle was restless and liked to wander. She would often lie on the roof of the house and watch the stars.
Just before summer vacation between her junior and senior year, Noelle was on the roof and Jabr joined her. They got into a conversation about her future and she told him that she wanted to join Star Fleet.
Initally Jabr was against it, however after long discussions with Brie, it was decided that Noelle could join and complete her training once she graduated from High School. Noelle decided to follow in her Mother’s footsteps and study medicine. She did well in her studies and looked forward to her first assignment.
After completing her training, Noelle was assigned to the Constitution as a medical officer. She continued learning and expanding her skills. After two years on the Constitution, she was offered the position of CMO on the Merrimack and accepted it.
Noelle is fluent in Arabic, Vulcan and Federation Standard.
